Title: Old Coast's D&D 5e Thread.
Post by: Old Coast on September 22, 2020, 03:49:40 AM
I recently ran my first D&D RPG session for a quad of 12-14 year olds, my first time playing an RPG with other humans and not a wargame or skirmish game in almost two decades. Of course being totally clueless about D&D 5e , I had to build and paint a bunch of stuff and run the encounters first as solo skirmish game to figure out the rules. the result was pretty entertaining and of course nothing like the actual session when we did play it.  anyhow I'm having fun with this so I am going to do some more of them as prep for the actual live sessions

Here is the first two...SPOILERS and all that if somehow, you are planning a playing in this 5 year old Adventure anytime soon.

Damn, Old Coast looks great. Very visually pleasing. Didn't think Grond was gonna make it, but glad he did. :) Keep up the good work.

Great terrain! Love the foamboard mountains.
I play RPGs too, about once a month, although my flavor of D&D is Pathfinder 2e. Basics are the same, though: characters, adventures, monsters and terrain. Having a detailed terrain board is a real plus, IMHO, even if it is certainly possible to play RPGs with nothing but a sheet of paperr and some dice.

fantastic layout.

playing 5e as a solo skirmish game sounds like a good idea to me, actually !

Thank you and Yeah he seems to have grown on me right away too...i just rolled these guys up based on models I wanted use..sometimes they take on a life of their own...both he and the warlock are going end up a characters in a couple of those new D&D PC games coming up soon (BG3, Solasta)

fantastic layout.

Thanks -yeah it works pretty well tactically, there a couple of referee calls you need to make in any type of narrative story that isnt dropping random cards on you for direction or story branches (which you could easily make) but the mechanics seem sound as long as you can deal with dreaded lone D20, but its pretty fun, im going to do some more soon...

thanks all for the input..
