I received my copy of the new ECW atlas this week, published by Osprey and written by the renowned historical author Colonel Nick Lipscombe.

With 156 coloured detailed maps of the various campaigns and battle sites, I have a feeling this may well become a key tome covering the wars.

Excellent review JJ of what looks to be a very useful book 8)
Thanks for going to the trouble- well worth it.
-
Thank you, my pleasure.
It’s always easy to review a very good book.

JJ, thanks for the book's review on a period I've always been fascinated by, but have never collected.
(perhaps it'll assuage my longing and self-imposed resistance....though I might be playing with fire) ;)
-
You’re very welcome. Like you I haven’t collected for the ECW but have a long standing interest in the period which I indulge with others collections and am tempted to put my own together if I can live long enough!
As the saying goes, ‘so much to do, so little time!’
Cheers

And strangely, the older you get, the more there is to do, and the shorter the time to do it ;)
This book has been on my wishlist since it first appeared on the Amazon cart a few months ago. Unfortunately it didn’t get published in time for my birthday, but I’ve got high hopes for Christmas! It looks excellent.
Edit: in fact, I can’t wait for Christmas. So I just ordered it lol

Moi Capitan Ricardo, I‘m afraid you got more time, but became slower. lol I got my book last week and had a short view. Ordered it nearly a year ago and waited so long. First look was fantastic except the forget the Battle at Giles area(Not the shed wars)

A very useful review and I agree, it is a must have for any ECW / War of the Three Kingdoms buff. It is a significant volume in every regard so be prepared to make room on the book shelf :D

Ordered yesterday. I do not collect ECW, but always been interested in its history. Your review has convinced me to buy it as a present for myself -my birthday is in October 19th, so I have an excuse! lol -

Mine arrived last night - it’s impressive 8)

I received mine on Sunday, it is indeed a beautiful book.

I received mine this morning. Really happy with the purchase.

I really wanted to order the Atlas as it's a book that I will inevitably need on my bookshelf- it seems like it contains such a wealth of information according to Carajon's review.
I have however resisted (stupidly?) as it would almost certainly lead to be buying a load of the lovely Bicorne mini's that I simply don't have the time to paint up at present.
I live in hope that someone at the club or indeed the club library buys a copy ???
-
Got mine a couple of days ago. It’s a very handsome volume. An amazing work of scholarship simply in terms of pulling together an incredible amount of detail from one end of the civil wars to the other. It’s going to take some reading lol

Sensible indeed. Unlike myself as I appear to now have a rather large order of 54mm ECW arriving soon in the post.
