Title: Alternative Armies/Altuos Renaissance 15mm - relative size

Hi everyone,
I’m looking at the Alternative Armies Renaissance range and wondering how they scale relative to other ranges.
Having bought a few 15mm figures I feel they scale a bit like this:
Smallest: Essex - a stumpy-legged 15mm (poss to top of head)
Middling: Khurasan and Old Glory 15s- a slightly taller 15mm (poss to eyes)
Bigger: Museum - my landsknechts are more like 17mm

Can anyone comment on roughly where these figures would fit in? If they are similar to Essex I will pass as they are too small compared to the bulk of my other models.

As ever it's all a bit tricky because 15mm can mean so many different things even in the same range.

I've found AA 15mm English. French and Italian foot figures mainly mix well enough with Legio Heroica, QRF Tudor infantry and some Venexia.  They also work well enough with Essex cavalry.   You can see an AA Crossbow figure at the bask of this pic -next to two Essex. 

Hope that helps.  I find it irritating when figures bought for a project aren't compatible.  Of course you sometimes can sabot to good effect.  Good luck with it.

If it's any help, I believe that the Altuos range was formerly Tabletop, and was sculpted by a chap named Tom (Obley?) who was the sculptor of the 2nd Generation Minifigs ECW/TYW range - that's the one that came after the original strip figures and before the current range (and, IMO, was the best stuff Minifigs ever produced).  I have both these, and 2nd Gen Minifigs and the two are identical in size and style; in fact, I was told that Tom - who now works for Early War Miniatures - got a "cease and desist" letter from Neville Dickinson when he began designing what were, in effect, additions to the old Minifigs Renaissance range (to which he allegedly replied that that was his sculpting style and he could hardly change it just because he was now working for someone else!).

Unfortunately none of the reference points match up with my (limited) experience of 15mm! The impression I get, though, is that if they are similar to Essex then they won't match well with my Museum/Old Glory/Khurasan army  :(
