Title: New Kingdom Egyptians
Post by: Baggers on October 07, 2020, 01:06:40 PM
Hi all,

First post here. I'm starting a New Kingdom Egyptian Army. I've picked up some models from the Warlord Games range, and I'm not a fan of them. I'm not sure if it's the design of the figures, or the casting, but there not doing it for me.

So, apart from Warlord and Foundry, what other companies produce New Kingdom Egyptians. My attempts at googling has led me nowhere really.

Thanks

Baggers

Have you looked at Old Glory or North Star?

Newlines do the best I've seen; they're (note punctuation and spelling) cheap, sturdy, attractive, and easily painted.

This was the other line I was trying to remember!!!

I own loads of the Black tree design Egyptians.
They actually paint up ok and were as cheap as chips.
If I was starting again I would just buy Foundry and have less figures.

CP Models sell a small range of New Kingdom figures including some separate chariot crews.  4-Ground produce MdF chariots but I don't know where to buy the horses.

My go to range would be Foundry.

I am an egyptologist, so quite picky about New Kingdom Egyptians, and nobody seems to make them completly right. Foundry models are decent and workable though. Don't use the mace-axe soldiers, it was not a combat weapon in this period. Striped cloth head-gear never ever existed for soldiers, so paint it black like greased hair. They could have helmets too, either plain bronze or sewed bronze or leather scale, which could be coloured. Shields were slightly curved at that time, but alas all the manufacturers make them flat. Most infantry carried two weapons, a spear to be thrown before contact, and an axe or a khepesh sword. Many soldiers fought also with staves and combat sticks, which no manufacturers represent.

In 20mm/ 1/72, Caesar miniatures are not bad either.

No need to be a shit about it.

Not the most welcoming response to a new member.  Do you really think it’s appropriate, in a forum about playing with toy soldiers, to be picking up other grown men on their/there/they're grammar; specially when it could be  because English isn’t someone’s first language?

FierceKitty, i think you should be more carefull in choosing your words. They may be interpreted as provocative to some. Its unnecessary and rude.

You could just say Newline figures as (in your opinion) are "cheap, sturdy, attractive, and easily painted" without the grammar corrections that you so love to mention.

A bit of advise. Avoid the provocative comments and stick to information only as you have been warned before several times.

The Foundry NKE range is superb, and one of the few to offer both earlier and later chariots. Their Hiitites, Peleset, Sea peoples and so on ar also great.

The complaints were about your communication style, not your correctness.

Did I employ the term "illiterate" anywhere? I'm not sure I can identify grounds for stylistic objection.

But you are being objectionable. Maybe that’s just your way.
