Hey guys,
I use an A3 backdrop I bought almost 10 years ago from Hangar18 (back when shipping from the US was okay) and it works really well. It has no glare whatsoever, great image, very fine texture that doesn't disrupt the visual effect and has a good size. Here's a shot of a recent miniature with the backdrop:

But by now the backdrop is getting more and more scratches and I also would like an A2 backdrop to make it easier for bigger miniatures. But Hangar18 has stopped doing business and now I can't get these backdrops anymore :'(
Does anybody know of a -good- alternative. So please no cheap Ali alternatives, these usually are terrible quality. Thanks!

I feel your pain. I love my Hangar18 backdrops. Sadly I have not seen anything similar recently.

Ooooh, nice'un! I had no idea there was such a market for backdrops. I have been using flat coulored paper for back drops all this time.

I've never seen these in person, but just the photo above shows a texture that reminds me of Scrapbooking paper.
They come in all sorts of colors, designs, and sizes.
Would they be similar to what you're looking for?

Pastel paper. As in paper for use with pastels, not pastel coloured. It is monocoloured. Has an almost velvety texture to it. Strange stuff, but brilliant for backdrops in light boxes. Can be tricky to source though. Try a specialist art supplies shop (Hobbycraft chain type stores don't usually have it)

Considering the low price I'm tempted to try one of these from Aliexpress - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256801426734241.html?
They do appear to have a bit of a shine to them though. Still... might be worth a try.

Just in case anybody is interested I did end up purchasing one of the backdrops I linked to in my previous post. What you get is essentially a nice sheet of thin matte plastic. I got one with just black on one side and white on the other (as I like simple backgrounds for my minis). I haven't shot anything with it yet but I think it'll work nicely. The only downside is that unlike the old Hanger 18 backdrops these do want to retain their shape so after being shipped to me rolled I needed to set it out on a flat surface for a bit before I could really use it. I'll share some photos when I get around to actually using it.

Cool! Looking forwards to seeing the photos :)

This was my first picture with the background. It doesn't show much but for me that's what I like about it. Getting it to full black just took a slight be a nudging with my photo software (I use Affinity Photo rather than Photoshop these days). Honestly, this is so much better than the cloth background I've been using I'm super happy with it.

Definitely works. Can't beat the price.
