Title: Brittania Crimean minis, nostalgia.
Post by: Romark on October 27, 2020, 01:49:55 PM
While having a sort out in my gaming cupboard I came across my collection of Brittania minis.
I started collecting these on their release back in the early eighties,if I remember correctly?
I bought them at a Salute show ,stood next to the late Ian Weekly, Bach when it was being held in Kensington Town Hall and I was brave enough to journey up to London for the show lol.
The sculpting style is not to everyone's taste,I know, but I've been slowly adding to my collection, every now and then, over the years and thought I'd share them here as you don't get to see  this manufactures castings very often :)

Proper nostalgia trip! I used to love the Britannia ranges, I had loads of their Plains Wars back in the late 80s. I probably stood next you at their stand at Salute when it was in Kensington Town hall! lol
And the late great Ian Weekly, a true gentleman and a friend of mine, I had the pleasure of visiting him when he lived in Buxton Lamas in Norfolk. I still have my signed copy of his book. :D

My only real complaint about the BM 25mms is that Dave Howitt seemed to use a metal mix that was very prone to breaking (particularly a bayonets & rifle barrels) but I loved the style of sculpting.

Britannia figures are still available.

I had a number of Crimean War of units and some Little Big Horn figures, at one time

I was looking at these figures today, never really thought about doing the Crimean War but Brittania figures appeal to me, proper old school look. This thread isn't helping either!! :)
