As a card carrying jammy git i was lucky enough to get my hands on the fantastic fortress from fogou models new kickstarter ahead of time in order to slap some paint on it and see how it holds up to painterly abuse.
First of all i should say it's made the same exceptionally high standard as all of fogou's terrain, Cast in dark jesmonite which makes it hardwearing as well as full of detail and texture. In terms of painting you could give this model a couple of quick drybrushes right onto the resin and it would look excellent.
But it absolutely shines with a bit of love - Washes and pigments really let the details shine through.
Over the next few days I'll show how I paint my castle walls using a handful of colours, then experiment with some new colours and styles to see how versatile the kit is with different genres of gaming.
Anyway, here it is so far!

The method for these pieces is pretty simple - A white zenithal priming with a spray can, A light grey basecoat, pick out some different coloured stones, then apply a couple of brown black and green washes, dabbing off the extra with a tissue. Finally add some thicker washes to your muddy/mossy areas, letting it pools for damp stains, and finally chuck some pigment at it :)
If you haven't already I'd recommend giving the kickstarter a look since there's some cool extras including turrets and an oldschool gatehouse. In the mean time I'll get back to painting.

THUNK!
Excuse me while I pick up my jaw!
That is stunning work :-* :- :o :-*
Love the staining on the walkway and the walls, nice depth to the stonework.
Inspiration for me as I have a GW tower to finish off.
I can only aspire to this type of result, well done.

Chris was kind enough to send me some extra wall and gate bits to see what i'd do with them (or just incase i ruined the last lot) and I figured a desert scheme was in order.
This is a really simple paintjob which again, this kit really rewards.
A zenithal white spray, A full covering of contrast snakebite leather, Pick out some odd stones in lighter tones, drybrush in mid brown, then a light drybrush of white to the raised sections. A brown wash, left on for a minute and then wiped off. Then one last pure white drybrush followed by pigments and odd dabs of green wash for streaking.

Once again I highly recommend checking out the kickstarter while I try and find a bigger lightbox to do some proper in situ photos.
