During my recent #Greatwargamesfigurecount in a dusty box under the table I found this lot. A 90 figure 28mm GW Riders of Rohan collection, which was nice.
They had been in an open box unmoved for maybe 7 or 8 years, so covered in dust I needed my airbrush to clean them up. Having taken all that time to get them presentable I thought it was a good chance to do a blog post on them before they went back under the table for another 10 years !
3 Units of 18 and 3 Units of 12 all present although Eowyn is still missing in action somewhere.
Lots of pics on the blog to look at if it's your thing, maybe just maybe it will get my War of the Ring Collection moving again. 6,000 riders at Pelennor Fields at 33 to 1 I only need another 90 !

What a find and they paint is great!
My favorite of the “official” LotR range.

“ Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!”
Looking good!

Great stuff. Very impressive force

Ahhhh, marvelous! Thank you for showing them!
Should you not be able to find your Eowyn, GW is having a limited run of some classic metal Rohan sculpts, including one of her!

PS: It is a Helm´s Deep and not a Pelennor Fields sculpt :)

Many thanks, I think I know where it is, building up the courage to go back under the table lol

They look great. I've got quite a few myself but not as well painted as yours. I seem to remember that the Rohan forces in the LOTR SBG were absolutely crap compared to the bad guys, it meant you were far more reliant on heroes, but possibly that was the point.

Great looking army there. The muted bases make the figures really pop. Do you have hordes of warriors of Rohan too?
Coincidentally, I too have just been looking at my Riders of Rohan, after having them in boxes for years - not as many as you but a reasonable-sized force for some skirmish gaming. Now I have that seed of a huge cavalry charge planted firmly in my head by your great pictures I may need to grab a few more sprues of Riders to supplement my forces.

I found them quite good (we played the War of the Ring rules), the archer units were like mobile machine guns.

I have a few Rohan foot but was really only interested in getting the 6000 (180 mounted) Rohirrim riders for Pelennor, a few others I know have other armies, who knows where it would go if I started up again .
