Just thought I would share my latest project for Frostgrave/Rangers. Although not sure this counts as terrain making or lepidoptery...

Made these from spare bases and silk cocoons from eBay.

They do look good.  I'll have to investigate cocoon availability. 
How did you find them to work with?

I found that PVA slightly melts them, but they have a similar texture to think paper or card for cutting - I haven't attempted painting them.
