Also known as “Sindbad” (9th century AD Arabic fantasy hero). I’m open to 15mm figure suggestions. Thanks.

PS. I bought the Splintered Light Miniatures “Men of the East” command set, which might furnish some figures for decadent villains. :)

I used a mix of Mini figs from Caliver Books and Barbary corsairs from Capitan games for my Conan games.

The guys with the crosbows were holding muskets and the one with the purple turban was holding a pistol which I just bent up and filed down to look like a large knife.
I think there was another one with a pistol in his waistband but I covered it with a shield.
Cheers,
Stroezie.

It would seem the Barbary corsairs have since moved to Stonewall Miniatures.
You can find them here

Spot on, specially for villains. I’ve been getting some of those lately. That range has lots of potential applications. Thanks!

Guys
How about converting a few of these “TB01T 15mm Tripoli Pirates” fellas to look the part? A minimum of eight of the twelve seem to have some potential as crewmen for a 9th century Arab fantasy crew.
Has anyone used this set for fantasy before?

PS. I’ve also ordered a set each of pre-Islamic Arabic spearmen and bowmen from Essex, to use as either brigands or tribes from more remote wild lands along the rim of the Indian Ocean. Another option would be to add turbans and use them as Muslim sailors. Thoughts?

I wonder if these guys are as “hefty” (buff?) as they look in the “pictures”?
https://www.museumminiatures.co.uk/indian-arab-hordes.html
Does anyone know? Has anyone ordered these yet?
Dan

I don't have that specific range but Museum Miniatures are on the large side as a rule.

Thanks, Etranger. That’s good to know.
Thanks to your input, and the following comments on TWW, I’m placing my order right now:

My Stone Wall figures arrived a couple of days ago. They look fantastic. And they’ll look even better with some conversion work and paint (many have pistols and such):

I’ve also ordered and received a larger version (36” x 72”) of this gaming mat, made and sold by “Mats by Mars”, for coastal encounters and for sea battles:

The trade routes along the Indian Ocean were truly extensive during the Abbasid Caliphate period:

PS. And I’ve also been working on some sandbars and mangrove forests for those coastal areas:
