The end is nigh…!
Yes my friends, the end is nearing. Although we live our simple lives in happy ignorance, forces are working against us. These extraterrestrial forces want only one thing: to dominate and destroy us. For long centuries they are trying to enter and conquer our world and now they are nearing completion. Only few stand in their way and their destiny is either madness or their deaths. But that is a small price to pay when you have the chance to save humanity…
The Playtesting begins!
It has cost many hours of hard work but now it is finally complete…the first complete version of Cosmic Horror. Cosmic Horror is a miniature skirmish game that focuses on the famous stories by H.P. Lovecraft. Players take up the role of investigators or the evil cultists and nasty creatures that lurk in the dark. The system itself is a mix of a miniatures game with some RPG elements mixed in it. With only 5-10 miniatures, you can play an intense and challenging game of Cosmic Horror.
The main rules have all the rules you will need to start playing. It contains ten scenarios, rules for campaigns and all the creatures and weapons you could wish for.
Although the final document is playable and has everything you will need to play the game, it needs more playtesting to get everything right and balanced. Therefore I am looking for you! Are you willing enough to brave the foul pages of Cosmic Horror? Are you willing to risk your sanity for some arcane knowledge? If so, you are the brave soul I am looking for.
On my website I have added a forum. Since forums are the target of many spambots and such, registration goes by e-mail. I get an e-mail once you register and after I have approved you can find the rules. You can then find the Cosmic Horror rules, the Quick Reference Sheet, Templates, and more to start playing the game. On the forum is a dedicated place only intended for playtesting. It is hidden from guests and non-playtesters so you can speak your mind freely ;).
Once I have the feedback, I will be working on the final set of rules that will be printed and sold. All playtesters will receive a free rulebook once it has been printed.
If you have any questions, I will gladly answer them.
Thanks,
Marijn Bierhof

Thanks for the interest guys. The cover art is by Melvin de Voor by the way.
@bc99 & marko.oja: what usernames did you use? So far I didn't receive an e-mail with your names in it.
-
I thought I'd be extra clever and use marko.oja...

Did you get my registration Mal? I haven't seen a confirmation yet!

I used bc99 as my username.

I have registered, and will hope to join your legions of playtesters.
-
Sounds like fun. I will probably try to join later when I'm using my own computer. Though I'd probably be no help with play-testing. There's so little room for playing on even after cleaning up. I had to throw a lot of crud on my floor just to play my copy of Strange Aeons, but the table has called for the return of its companions since then.
Excellent cover, by the way. :)

Somehow I didn't get e-mails from Phpbb from some activations, but I found them on the forum itself and all users should be activated by now. If you still don't have access, let me know (with your username please).

Registered!

Lookin' good Mal! Seems this is the year to spread insanity! Hope the playtesters are left screaming in fear, clinging to the last shattered thread of sanity they have left! Spread the dark gospel, brother! 8)

I've registered as well. This looks like great subject matter for a game!
Looking forward to the playtesting opportunity.

Registered as well. Been doing Lovecraft for decades, if you still have room I'd be interested.

Registered. Used to play Call 'o' Cthulhu roleplaying. Have been waiting for something like this. I'm excited to be of service.
-
I registered two days ago but still not recieved confirmation email? Looking forward to playtesting these I am also a long time CoC player (first game I ever bought) and have a collection of Rafm miniatures to use.
-
All approved :)
@elisium: I approved your account yesterday or the day before and you should be able to access the playtest forum.
It seems the forum isn't very stable in sending e-mails. I hardly get e-mails but I check it every two hours or so. New registrations should be activated the same day (unless your in the US. If you're joining during the day or night I might be asleep in Holland ;)).
-
Careful, Malebolgia, my ladyfriend's name is Holland.
-
HAHAHAHA! Oh yes, my slumbering dreams in R'lyeh do strange things to the ladies...;)
-
Lovely cover art. I am looking forward to seeing how everything turns out. I have missed good Cthulhu gaming.
-
Was watching for confirmation to arrive and then checked - so have now downloaded files and started reading. Hope to get the first test games in the next week or so.
-
I just registered. My username is the same as here. I have extensive playtest experience (for Wizkids Games, Privateer Press, and others).
Look forward to helping!
-
Shouldn't this topic be in the main CoC board?
-
I just registered with the warrenss2 username.
Looking forward to getting my confirmation email and trying these rule out.
I think I developed a phobia just by looking at the cover. :o

Registered under Crudeboy.
I'm really interested in checking this out. If it's Mythos-related, I'm generally all about it.
By the way. First post here. Hi, fellas. :)
-
Still waiting for activation email. :'(
Anyone would think you have better things to do. ;)
-
Approved :). Good you mentioned it here. I'm getting flooded with bogus accounts of evil spammers who want to use the board for different things. But I approved your account (and two others).
-
Hi there
I've just registered - username capthugeca (same as here).
I hope that I'm not too late to do some playtesting of the rules.

Hope so and I am sure he will. Looks and sounds really promising. Im currently building a city/beach board for multiple games. LotHS/Mordheim/ and I just bought a bunch of zombies along with some eeeeerie townsfolk that would work well with Cthulhu games. Sorry im excited :D

-
I look forward to the final version. I would like to be able to have some mass combat with my Cthulhu Role-Playing at times.
-
Think I approved all accounts now (I'm getting sooooo tired of those "Russian Brides" accounts clogging it up...).
I have added Suppression markers in the templates and I posted a first draft of the PDF, to get an idea of the looks of the book.
