Title: Miniature Wargames or Wargames Illustrated pirate rules and scenarios
Post by: amunptah on December 20, 2020, 09:41:32 PM
I’m posting here to see if anyone remembers an old article(s) from Miniature Wargames, somewhere from early 2000s, that I have vague memories of as an early teen. It was a scenario and possibly full rules for a pirate game. I remember various islands being described with traps and treasure outlined with tables to roll against. I think playing cards may have been in there too?
I have fond memories and a real soft spot for those types of magazine rulesets - a whole game on just a few pages, simple to understand!

I found an index online and think the article may actually have been in Wargames Illustrated. I found a great ruleset in a WI from a just a couple of years ago, but it still leaves the mystery of the article I remember.
The index said there were some Peter Pig Pieces of Eight articles around the right time period. Was the first version of PoE different to the current version. The current one uses the abstract grid system which I don’t like, and as far as I remember the article had gridless island exploration.
