Quick little project to round off the summer break.
Didn't actually do much, just stuck bits together, but that's kind of it for making jungle bases isn't it :)

My next jungle is going to be African and I'll be making that from raw materials so it'll be more of a 'how to' but that's for another time...

Excellent work! :-*

Can I borrow that for some Fantastic Worlds games?
:)
I've been a fan of your stuff for a while. You never cease to make the simple look simply amazing.
Welld done!

Very nice, looks very effctive and very dense, just right for the VC to hide in. :)

Let's have a link to the aquarium vendor in the states then? He/she may well do another 'never to be repeated' offer?
And what's this basetex stuff then do tell?

I ordered the aquarium plants in October 2005, thanks to Paypal records I got in touch with the vendor today and she sent me a new catalogue :)
I will be ordering more of the 2 types I used the most (used up in fact) they were $1.69 for a 5"x5" tray before (roughly 100 plants) but I don't have any prices yet. I will update the write up on my site when I get some definite information.
edit: Basetex is a pre formulated basing medium made by Colour Party and available from Irregular Miniatures. It comes in little pots if you want to try it, takes a little practice to get the best results but I have been using it for 15 years or so. The little pots tend to dry up so I buy 1 litre tubs which don't.
Here's a step-by-step with some unusually runny Basetex, it's more of a paste normally:

Looks great,
Far better than my own jungle efforts.

Super terrain.
The addition of the ruins is fairly ingenious and really gives great character to the pieces.

Blimey. That's a quick project?
What a lovely looking jungle... :)
Now I know I'm not going to deter you after 15 happy years with Basetex, Paul, but I can't help repeating (like the stuck record I am) you can make your own for a fraction of the price.
Half fill a jam jar with medium-coarse sand, add a generous slug of emulsion (whatever colour you want the base to turn out) and an equal measure of PVA, so the jar is around 90% full. Stir into a sludge with an old stick. Bingo. If it's too runny, add a bit more sand. Too thick - add a bit more PVA. Use from the jar as and when you need it.
And enjoy a couple of pints with the money you've saved ;)
Shutting up now...

Half fill a jam jar with medium-coarse sand,
I thought you was using rhyming slang so now my car is knackered. ::)
These jungle building tips are very handy, many thanks chaps.
