Title: Sassanid horse archers
Post by: bluewillow on January 16, 2021, 10:00:26 AM
Still trying to completely empty my project drawer so I can fill them up again with new toys!

Off the desk earlier in the week three units of Sassanid horse archers, I think they have been in the project drawers for at least 6 years....and finally they can join the rest of the army. One unit to go and a command stand and the army will be completely painted.

Figures are from the A&A range, I would like to add some tufts to match the rest of my army at some stage. Based for Impetus in a  Cantabrian circle when two bases are placed together.

Matt, very nice. The A&A ranges don't seem to get much publicity these days.....or maybe never did. Last year I assembled and painted both a Palmyran and a late 3rd century Roman army. I think A&A are the only manufacturer of correct figures for the late 3rd century . Their Sassanids are also very nice but I went with Gripping Beast many years ago.

A majority of my army are A&A, plus a few Gripping beast and some Aventine pieces too.

I love their Romans too....

Excellent!

I startet Aventine Sassanids too. Best miniatures for Sassanids in my view,

Nice work Matt, I have some of these figures still in Oz. When travel resumes, I am hoping my lead mule will be able to bring them in for me...
