Title: SS Venture
Post by: S J Donovan on January 16, 2021, 09:18:10 PM
I just received the latest Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette and it has a new vendor that produces laser cut plywood kits.  Deerfield River Laser http://www.deerfieldriverlaser.com (http://www.deerfieldriverlaser.com) they produce several O scale (1/48) ship kits. they have several freighters, river steamers, and barges.  The SS Venture is 35.5 by 7 inches and looks just like the 2005 King Kong movie vessel.

It is a beautiful model, if I could afford it, $496 is a bit steep.  The review of the SS Venture mentions Blue Jacket die cast metal fittings http://www.bluejacketinc.com/ (http://www.bluejacketinc.com/) they also have a large selection of fittings for building your own ship.

WOW. Expensive as, but it at least seems to be worth it.

The important question though is if those gangways and balconies are wide enough for 28mm figure bases!

Oh dear

I keep musing on building myself a Trampsteamer. Ever time. I think I've dodged getting sidetracked with one. Someone post's something like this. First I go that's pretty ,then How much :o , then I'm upto my armpits in cereal packet card. Just to prove to myself I can do one for a fraction of the price :?
I will not be suckered in I tell you . Lockdown or No Lockdown.
So to you Sir I say stop peddling such filth. I am a decent man who's under orders to decorate the spare bedroom this lockdown. I will not be swayed.

Besides I think she'd notice another 2ft long build.Hiding behind my armchair.

Can you not decorate the room with sailing stuff/motif and put the ship innocently on a fake mantle.  Oh yes, it would be hard to hide behind a chair because it's three feet long.
I wondered about the gangway size surely a fig without a base will fit, just calls for a few new figures.  Who knew?
