I finished 6 more marines for a total of 18...additional troopers to follow.
Great miniatures. I highly recommend them.
Thanks.

Gorgeous. Lovely work Patrick :-*
-
Yup like those alot.
May just be your camera settings but the flesh looks a little flat?
Just in time for a bit of 'not space hulk' eh?
Check those corners marines!
:D
-
Excellent! The green and black uniforms and the red goggles really work 8)
-
really really great work!
-
Thanks all. I look forward to painting more soon.
I had to have something on the miniatures that popped. I decided on red goggles/glasses. to off set the green and black.
I never thought about Space Hulk. I wonder if there will additional rules for IG troopers for SH? Is there a Pulp .45ish game rules out there that would incorporate IG type troops?
-
I believe there aren't any "official" rules for IG in Space Hulk. The company that shall not be named is about to release a new limited edition of the game and it says that everything is in the box and no add-on's will be published. As I see it, it's only about Terminators and Genestealers. Maybe in a previous edition you might find something about IG...

They were released through WD if memory serves correctly. Best bet is to wander over the frother's and check out the current spacehulk threads as there are links to PDF's etc....

You might be getting mixed up with Advanced Space Crusade there Vypes, they did publish an IG force list for ASC in the Dwarf. One Frother is playing SH with Copplestone marines and Clix Aliens so like Vyper said, might be worth having a looksee over on FU-UK.
EDIT: someone's come up with IG rules here:

Really excellent stuff
you have brought those figures to life :-*

Don't think so bud, but wouldn't suprise me if I was. However they did Mk6 powered armoured marines (which for sake of sanity I would use as colonial marines as the IG of the day were let's face it a bit weedy) thought they did do guard though?
And there are a few frother's toying with the colonial marine/horrorclix alien idea so again definately worth a looky loo!
:D

They definitely did Marines, rules were in a WD and republished in SH Campaigns.
Just had a look on the Tribute to Space Hulk site, and you're (sort of) right ;) . There were rules for IG published in CItadel Journal Issue 25 for the 2nd Ed.

Cheers for sharing that though, useful reference none the less.

No probs, must admit I've never considered using IG in Space Hulk as I would have thought they would get whupped pretty quickly, but I might be tempted to buy some Pig Iron figures with gasmask heads to use as IG.
Picking up some Necrons might be a possibility as well, but must paint 15 Chaos termies first.
EDIT: going off on a tangent again, should add you've done a cracking job of those marines Patrick!
-
The goggles and the textures on the covered helmets are really, really nice. :-*
As far as Imperial Guard in Space Hulk are concerned, if memory serves right one of the expansions from first edition had a campaigns book with rules for weapons such as las-pistols and lasguns. I'm sure it had a point-buy system for designing your own scenarios as well, with rules for Imperial Guard.
-
Lovely figures. :-* :-*
I really like the way you have done the bases very unusual and Alien like :-* :-* :-*

Termies get whupped too if the stealers reach them, it's all about shooting them first I guess. That said, I never played 1st edition.
Of course you can always just substitute the models and leave the rules intact, works for 2nd edition anyway.
Great models too, nice paintjob and those goggles are awesome! Might have to steal that idea 8)
Yeah, I really gotta paint my troopers ;)

You're partly right, Deathwing had a mission generator and Genestealer had profiles for lasguns etc, but there were no rules for Imperial Guard until the Citadel Journal article I linked to above.

Your paint work is great beyond words! What a treat for the eyes!
Bravo!
-
Excellent work! I really like the effect you've got going for the bases too.
-
Very nice!!
-
I was really inspired by the work on this thread-do much do that I secured a few squads of these excellnt Copplestone troopers just yesterday. If the OP is still around, would you mind sharing the paints you used for the fatigues? Just what green/OD is that? Any help would be much appreciated!

Good-looking figures. It's hard to make military style PJ's interesting. But you have. Very well done.
-
Hi Hrothgar,
The paints that I used were all from Reaper Master Series. The base color is Camouflage Green followed by a shading of brown+green ink. The highlight is Camouflage Green and Linen White. The highlight might be a little stark, so wash the green with Matt Medium and Camouflage green.
We would like to see pics when you are finished! lol

Stunningly gorgeous!
I just ordered a bunch of E-4 Troopers, and I swear these are very similar. I'm assuming Copplestone did those as well.
I'll bookmark this as a fantastic reference. If I could get mine only half as good I'd be pleased!
Well done.

He did all the Future Warriors for Grenadier, IIRC.

Correct good old Mark Copplestone also did the early metal IG from the rogue trader days, (with the plastic arms) he did and does still do great troopers with googles I must admit.

I love the Copplestone Future Wars line (this thread displays some superbly painted ones), and hope to purchase a lot of it soon. (Frankly, I don't think I'm ready to paint them yet. More practice!). Does anyone know how often he releases figures? Will there every be new Future Wars figures?

There haven't been any new Future Wars releases in the last couple of years . (IIRC, the Wasteland Desperadoes pack was the latest one). The "Back of Beyond" and the "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" lines have gotten most of the new releases recently. I don't think there is a strict schedule, but he seems to come out with something new every few months. You can sign up to get e-mail notifications of new releases on the Copplestone Castings site.
-
Thanks, I'll go do that right now.

If i didn't have so many irons in the fire, I'd be all over that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang line.... :-*
-
Those look amazing. I was just thinking the other day that I should get my figures out and get them prepped, primed and painted over the summer as my next project. Your figures are very inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

With the recent interest, I have six more cleaned and based ready for paint.
More to come....

Get a bigger fire lol
I agree, though, they are great but I'd never have time to paint them ::)

WOW Patrick... Just WOW! :o :o Nice work indeed.

Very nice work indeed. I have most of the CC FW Troopers due to jumping on the bandwagon when he offered a deal for the FW troopers about 4 or 5 years ago. They're all based and primered, but I've never done anything with them. Now I'm debating between the 2nd RCW paint scheme I saw on here a while back (2nd RCW Church Trooper (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=18750.0) )and the beautiful color scheme Patrick has graced us with.
Gorrammit!

Very jealous of your wonderful soldiers, especially the skin work :)

Some of the early Warzone miniatures were sculpted by copplestone too. Some even have the same poses but are much chunkier. But they do blend in well enough if you don't mind some difference is size.
Cartel Agents, Capitol Troopers, Cybertronic Chasseurs, Imperial Blood Berets, Bauhaus Hussars. Basically the first 15 or so tg9500 codes. I use some of these figs as heavies or powered armour troopers.
-
Update: Added 6 more marines. I decided to go with special forces this time. Attached is a another group picture too.

:-*
Sweet force you got there Patrick!
Just gotta love Copplestone minis...
-
Very nice.
What exactly is on the back of that one beret trooper? Looks a lot bigger and different than what they normally have. The backpack that is.
-
It is backpack kit from TAG.

Ah, thank you. I've been wanting some non-GW backpacks for some time.
-
As many miniature lines grow older, they begin to look dated. To me its amazing that most of copplestones stuff always looks en vogue, and never dated.
Fantastic stuff CoM!
-
Two apologies:
1: There is no update from the OP,
2: For the threadomancy.
I wanted to comment on Copplestone's style. One of the reasons his FW stuff always seems to be in style is that he uses a very conservative style in everything he sculpts for that line. It's not so specific that it belongs in a particular time frame, and it's not so superdetailed that the basic character of the figure gets lost in the details. My daughter's first miniatures she painted were the Copplestone "Band on the Run". She was able to put her own take on the minis and paint all of the details without me needing to do anything other than minor touchups where her hand wasn't quite steady enough. Right out of the gate and she's almost as good at painting the minis as I am.
-

Ah kids....nothing better than when they show up old dad....
(luckily, my daughters are not better painters than me, but they both kick my butt at Halo3.
-
lovely job! great work making the 'all-black' clothing and equipment look like different materials.
-
VERY TOUGH looking dudes!!!!
-
I recently picked up some painted Copplestone FW at Recruits Convention. The price to right with the thought that I could repaint the the flesh and give the minis some shading and highlights. These repaints are bound for EBAY.
Has anyone else tried to repaint existing painted minis?

Nice figures! That sand-and-black combination works quite nicely.
Has anyone else tried to repaint existing painted minis?
I once got a bunch of Roman Auxilia from a friend and touched up the tunics and skin, and completely re-did the shields in order to bring them more into line with my own.
Usually, though, I prefer "raw material" to work on, mainly because I want to be able to say it is all "my work".
-
Has anyone else tried to repaint existing painted minis?
Yes - some of these very figures as it happens. Some really old EM4 Future wars figures which I had very sloppily painted a few years back. I thought I'd be clever and just tart them up a bit by giving them the same camo as my current Copplestone FW stuff.
I made a complete hash of it and now they will have to be stripped and re-painted >:(
Something I should have done in the first place, of course......
lol
-
Only very rarely, an old Gothic horror vicar I got recently that had a reasonable basic paint job that I finished up and some necromunda zombies that were destined for ebay.
Otherwise it's a no.
Anyway back onto topic:

Like these, very nice, passable as spec ops/mercs too.
-
Very nice. An effective paint scheme too
