Title: 15mm R&F Fantasy- Vampire Counts
Post by: Hewlett on January 25, 2021, 10:19:37 AM
Hi!

First of all, excuse my english. It has been some time since i last wrote something in english. Reading is fine, writing... a bit problematic. ;)

So, what's this thread all about? 15mm Rank and File, especially Kings of War, Dragon Rampant or maybe Warhammer.

Actually, I didn't want to start any more Rank and File projects, but since I stumbled upon the Warmaster Patreon from Forest Dragon ... But well, here we go again.

Since i started some time ago with the project, there are allready some pictures which i can show you. :)

Vampire/ Konrad von Carstein:

The first regiment of skeletons:

Put together for the first time:

Progress:

The next step is to paint the remaining 10 skeletons.

Oh yeah, of course i started painting them in 10mm as well...

Until next time, hope you like it. :)

So am I correct in thinking you got those in 15mm as well as 10mm?  if so where did you get the 15mm ones from?  I love the way they look, best 15mm skeletons I have seen!

They're 3D prints. Can't remember who made them but I've seen them on my STL hunts.

Fabulous figures btw, Old World in miniature miniature  lol

As Brummie wrote, they are 3d Prints. I got the files from the Forest Dragon Patreon/ Gumroad Store and scaled the 10mm files up to 150%. Tada, 15mm Fantasy Rank and File. :)

From next month on there will be Bretonnians.

Cool, any pictures of them in 15mm?
Do you use a resin printer?

I printed most of the undead range. Black coach, heavy and light infantry, bats, dire wolves, knights and wights. Hopefully i'll paint everything... lets see.  ;)

Yep, i own a resin printer. Nothing special, it's an Anycubic Photon.

Oh, btw:

The first unit skeletons is ready. It's actually the first time i made a snowbase ... after being 20 years in the hobby... It's ok, i think.

While i was painting, i printed the first building. It's a mill, missing her millblades (?)

Dire wolves will be the next unit.

2x5 or 1x 10 unit of Dire Wolves

I think i'll add some additional snow to some spots. Somehow, in relation to the skeletons, it seems to be to little.

The vampire is from Forest Dragon, they are running a Patreon as well as an online shop for their 3d print files:

I was asked for a armypicture of the units that have been finished until now... so:

Not much but slow and steady progress. The next unit skeleton should be ready this weekend.

Oh and the mill got some company:

Are you using standard KoW base sizes for troops/regiments/hordes or are you using half-size basing? Looks like you're using regular basing sizes just with more figures on it per base.

I've been looking at getting some Forest Dragon Wood Elves in 15mm, but I don't know if I want to try and base them up for KoW, half-size KoW, or cut the strips apart and base them on 38mm rounds like my Joan of Arc stuff

Hi!

You guessed right, i'm using regular bases so i can play with people who have a 28mm army. Doesn't make much sense if i have a giant army but no one to play with because all sizes are halfed. ;)

The main reason is of course: I looks more impressive. It gives this Total War: Warhammer feeling with huge units. I'm planning a zombie horde with over 100 zombies for example...

But for now:

The second unit skeleton is ready!

Next unit are some wights/ ghostswarms for KoW/ Warhammer

The empty base will be a horde of zombies... nearly 120... seriously i'm crazy.

This all looks excellent.  I've always wondered why so many people play rank-n-file in larger scales.  Always seemed 20mm/15mm would have been a better idea.  You've got some great stuff here.  The skeleton unit, in particular, looks superb.

Dear Lord the 15mm Warhammer idea is incredibly tempting.

Printable Scenery do some nice buildings that are easily scaled down to 15mm so I ordered their Wizards tower.

Might have to chat with one of the folks with the Forest Dragon Licence and order some in 15mm. If they do Lizardmen I'd be super tempted to redo the 1996 Bretonnians Vs Lizardmen box.

Yep, Lizardmen would be pretty tempting because the next army will be bretonnians
after the vampire counts.

But for now, more undead:

I have these figures but printed in 15mm, very nice sculpts and very nicely printed for me by Fred in France!

I was thinking of a 15mm Undead army for a while, having sold off my metal on years ago but I did not like any of the metal figures.  These I absolutely love!

I'll post some pictures when I can find them.  If people are interested lol
Title: Re: 15mm R&F Fantasy- Vampire Counts
Post by: Albus Malum on October 09, 2021, 04:52:23 AM
I have printed these also, in 15mm, also some human knights also. When I print these I do a few test prints and find my exact scaling so that they will match my other metal 15mm miniatures. Many of my 15mm miniature are actually 18mm ( Demonworld, BattleValor) so instead of just printing at 150 percent, then maybe they get printed at 155 or 160 percent, ect, what ever makes them match best.  If I am printing miniatures like Knights, I try to match to the horses, but if foot soldier I just try to match.  Sometimes I may make them thinner or thicker when I print, if it make the best match to the other miniatures.

The only thing I dont like about these Forest Dragon sculpts is that the weapons are so huge. No easy way to deal the the huge weapons.  some of the FD miniatures are holding weapons so big, like swinging a one handed sword that would be like 7ft long in real life.  Other than that, I really like them.

There are a few other Patreons out there now that are also producing miniatures ment for 10mm Warmaster, which scale up to 15mm also.  Some of them are doing the same thing, Weapons to large, or mounts to small etc.  I have also 3d printed some miniatures which were originally meant for 28mm and scaled them down to 15mm .

Most of these STLs would also print nicely in 28mm, and I have printed a few that way.  if you have your own printer, which everybody  really needs who wargames, you can print to any scale you want to within reason . There is no reason you can not print up a entire 28mm army for 28mm Warmaster, or Warhammer. Im not a warhammer/Warmaster player, but honestly I cant see why Warmaster cant be played in 28mm, and really not sure how much difference Warhammer would be to Warmaster if if you changed scale, are they not essentially the same game?

All of my 15mm miniatures are single based on washers which I can then put on magnetic movement trays. Doing that I can play any game system I want, from skirmish to mass armies.  of coarse the mounted units I mount on metal strips ( from a company called Warbases)

I have to say,  you've painted them up real well,  I only have painted a small handful up, as my painting has come to a stand still for the time being.

I really like 15mm, such a great scale.
