Title: Infamy, Infamy and a 3mm scale question
Post by: Samsonov on January 27, 2021, 07:42:10 PM
I know people are typically using 28mm models for Infamy, Infamy, and I have seen it being played at 6mm, but I am unsure what each individual model is meant to represent. I am tempted to do it in 3mm in 1-1 scale. I can fit 80 3mm Imperial Romans on a 4cm by 2cm base to represent a Centuria, or 60 3mm Republican Romans on a 4cm by 1.5cm base to represent a century (half a maniple).

Do you think it would work in this scale? I know the game is more about raiding than large battles but I wonder if it would work with say 500 3mm Romans represented in 1-1 scale vs loads of Celts.

So my plan is to do Early Imperial Romans, with each base representing a 80 man Centuria. I would use 6cm by 2cm bases, and can easily fit 80 3mm models on the base, plus have room for the Centuria support staff. I would do the same with Celts except that they would go on 6cm by 3cm bases.

Each base of Legionaries would be equivalent to placing eight 28mm romans on a single base. I would then record causalities each base takes, which is equivalent to removing individual 28mm figures. Each base of Celtic Warriors would be equivalent to to ten 28mm Celts.

I've looked at it myself, but have gone for even bigger bases for that satisfying scale. In my head I'm justifying it by simply having the scale be higher.

I like what I see, but the work load, especially for the barbarians, is pretty high.

The work load is pretty high but conveniently I already have plenty of them painted up (though still cannot work out how to take good pictures of them):
