Title: STL files for Napoleonic Buildings [Found: Kickstarter]
Post by: Cat on February 15, 2021, 09:28:50 PM
I'm on a quest for STL files to print buildings for various theatres in the Napoleonic Wars, and coming up with scant findings.  We'll be printing these in 15mm-ish size, shrinking the X & Y axes to get smaller footprints, while still keeping the height tall enough that cavalry and shouldered muskets of passing troops don't tower over the rooftops of small farms.

I've come across a few expensive files for multi-level removable stages buildings for larger scale skirmish games that are overkill and overpriced for this application.

And I've found one Russian Village set at a good price and just purchased this at Wargamesvault:
https://www.wargamevault.com/product/253924/Russian-WW2-Village
By making slight changes in the length and width (and not worrying about distortions in the doors, etc), duplicates of each building can be printed so they aren't all identical and should do well enough for Borodino and neighboring villages.

But otherwise, my google-fu and searches for good period buildings on Thingiverse have been failing.

Does anyone have any pointers for files of farms and city buildings:

Russian, more urbany buildings?

German, for Leipzig, etc. — classic Faller model kit styling?

Spanish?

Belgian, more than the iconic Waterloo ones?

Italian (one of our club members might do early war armies...)?

Try here, I believe there is a second Kickstarter campaign with suitable files.

Ooh, oww, thanks.  I think I saw that awhile ago and glanced by quickly due to the price.  Looking more closely now, it is painfully tempting.  The first set is also available through the current KS as a bundle.

That's a lot of buildings of what we're looking for, and with a lot of detail.  Even more tempting knowing there aren't other offerings out there that I can find.

5 days to decide...

Hmm, turns out they have a Spanish/Italian set that can also be bundled in on this KS:

I've joined the Kickstarter for the Napoleonic Buildings Set 2, and also Set 1 and the Spanish/Italian sets from previous Kickstarters bundled in.  This is pretty exactly what I was searching for, and haven't found much else available.  There is a wealth of buildings in each set, and very highly detailed.

4 days still running on the campaign:

Yes, the second is still runing I think.

Those look great!  The 100 Days is the center of my miniatures collection, that there are so many buildings for it between the two sets, as well as Leipzig and others, that I couldn't resist.

The KS runs til this Sunday the 21st, 3PM EST.

WOW buildings are the best by far and worth the money.

Jens travels to the Napoleonic and ww2 locations to measure them especially.

Cheers

The WOW offerings look great for WW2 with some cross-over for Napoleonic, but not nearly the Nap offerings from 3DPrintDesign.

Updates on the KS that just concluded say that a 3rd Napoleonic Set will be coming for Russia and Northern Germany!
