My latest On-Line Build modelling and painting project will be based on this group of 10 Flintloque landwehr (52504).

My plan is to convert eight miniatures following inspiration I found in a magazine - in particular the artist Jakub Rozalski and in particular the Wolfpack 1863 series shows cold and terrified Landwehr facing huge and monsterous werewolves. For much more information about my plan, see the Blog.

The first step in converting this image was to remove the caps. I used a pair of clippers and a big flat file to cleanup the join.

I've started with the headgear conversion - gluing on a short section of plastic rod to act as a base for the Milliput.

Even more refining of the head gear. I've sanded the shape and added more Green Stuff before sculpting the crosses.

As for the headgear decoration, it reminded me of this...
A quote regarding Voltigeur Shako plumes...
“The plumes were liked by Napoleon, in some early fight, he discovered that the tall color plumes magnified his soldiers' appearance and caused the enemy to fire too soon and too high. The soldiers like the plumes during parades and generally in peacetime.
In combat, however, they thought that the color plumes attracted far too much attention from enemy's artillery and skirmishers. It was also impossible to hide in tall crops and surprise the enemy with a sudden attack. The enemy saw your tall plumes before you saw him.”

AIM for those marks and odds are you will kill the hat rather than the dwarf.

I have now painted the bases. I used my usual Snakebite Leather colour as a base and highlighted it with either Flesh or white.
