I've begun this project with foot knight codes released in the initial KS(s), sans 1 (one) whom I intend to style after Reginald Croc. Information on his heraldry is elusive, to say the least. I'd be appreciative of any useful information if anyone may happen to know more about the man credited with killing the Comte du Perche at Lincoln Castle. Otherwise I'll be using the logo from the Phallological Museum in Reykjavik... Now, time to put brush to metal on some troops of lesser social standing.

Nice looking bunch of foot knights!
-
Wow! Those look really good indeed! I wish mine were even close to such a level of painting. I also love how the heraldry is incorporated in their clothes as well as on their shields.

Nicely done!
Thanks for sharing!

Very nice painting on thiose minis. :-* Particularly like the red/white diamond pattern.

Lovely freehand, and great gritty feel to them!

More stellar work!
-
Fantastic work! :-*
-
Superb, very nicely done, just the right combination of dirt, grime and muted colours. :-*
-
Lovely looking models. Had not noticed the bash in the helmet on the sword carrier before but looks like by design as on mine as well I now realise.
-
Stunning, inspirational work
-
Lovely stuff! :-*
-
Great work!
-
Great looking Retinue you got there, keep it up.
-
Brilliant work
-
Very nice indeed.
-
Excellent work and lovely horse colours.
-
Thank you all very much. Next up for this project will be Falke's crossbowmen and the man himself... progressing nicely. Will hold off on finishing these up for the moment, as I'm in the middle of a horse-themed painting challenge elsewhere. )Which means you'll see some mounted Gauls in my other thread in the near future.)

Love the muted tones you have used on those crossbowmen. :-* :-*

Thank you all very kindly, gentlemen. Slow but steady progress continues on the Baron's War figures (Yes! From Footsore).

Those are coming along really nicely. The faces stand out for me - very expressive.

Thanks Odo, much appreciated. Have basically wrapped up the peasant levy for the moment. Now back to some more engaging troops.

Time to paint some retinue leadership and mounted knights...
-
Goh, that's amazing! I really need to paint mine, but I am to distracted with some 11th century Spanish. ;)
The first picture, the second from the left (axe guy). How did you do the brown?
-
Thank you kindly, Tonhel! You're doing noble work, as they say, with your Reconquista project. Fantastic stuff, and I'll be excited to see you turn your brush to these lovely Paul Hicks' figures.
The brown -- most of those tones were done with Scale 75 Fantasy paints from their 'Steam & Punk' boxed set. Very versatile palette, and I'm really coming to like that range of paint in general.
-
Top work :-*
-
Very nice indeed :D
-
Fantastic work sir, I've been watching this thread as you've inspired me to get on with my own stuff for Baron's War (Thanks for the reply in my thread btw). I've already got the Wood and Leather set in Scale 75 but I was wondering which set for the reds and yellows if you could give a pointer??.

My next mini, I am going to try to paint more like you. I like your style! ;). When I do my next order I will get myself that Steam & Punk set!
-
Thanks Tonhel - Your compliment humbles me! Can't wait to see what you with the miniatures.
Johnny -- Glad to make a contribution to your chat. As to the reds I've used above, they're from the "Creatures From Hell" Fantasy set. Also a very versatile set which I'm really liking these days.

Slow but steady progress on the command groups, not all of which will likely be on the table each time. But, one must have options...

Though I've come to appreciate the very basic quality of the shield transfers, I'm not really happy with the Citadel6 banners, even after working a few over to improve - see the before-and-after in the first two photos - I don't believe they're coming together satisfactorily. I'm thinking I'll rip and replace these with the Flags of War versions - like in the third photo. That said, I'll save them and use them for some sort of suitable on-table status or event markers.

Every retinue leader needs a musician. This one bears a resemblance to a certain friend of mine, though maybe a bit on the tall side... ;)
*The non-trumpet musicians are all from Eureka.

Anyway, had one last foot knight to finish. Here is Sir Simon. Simon the Chav.
