Title: Eutaw Springs scenario updated
Post by: vtsaogames on April 18, 2021, 12:51:46 AM
For those who are interested, my scenario for the battle of Eutaw Springs in 1781 South Carolina has been updated due to my reading of Buchanan's "Road to Charleston".
It can be found here https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/08/scenario-for-eutaw-springs-sept-8-1781.html (https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/08/scenario-for-eutaw-springs-sept-8-1781.html)

Thanks for posting, this is one of my favorite AWI battles.

Very interesting.  I've run/gamed this scenario a few times.  Both sides have won...

But I'm curious...I see you've amalgamated a few of the British/Loyalist units.  The OOB I use has Majoribanks' elites split into smaller Grenadier and Light battalions, the 63rd and 64th Foot into their own battalions (with the 2/84th amalgamated into the 63rd Foot), and the loyalists into 2 battalions (DeLanceys'/New Jersey in one, and the New Yorkers into another).   I even split the 3rd Foot into 2 battalions (really wings of the bigger battalion - I know, but It seems to work).

But I've not played the rules you use.  Do the larger British Battalions you use play well?  I've used a variation of Gettysburg Soldiers (playtesting their new AWI rules) in my games, and the smaller units work well for those.

Either way, nicely done.  It's a great scenario...

I'm rediscovering Loose Files after a very long hiatus. I think the larger units work better but am not sure. Needs more games...

It'll be interesting to see how it works out.  Maybe I'll have to try those rules...
