Looks like Great Escape Games might finally be giving us some multi pose/part plastic Cowboys. Hopefully they'll be a lot of good options included.
-
Wow, that would be amazing.
-
Ok, that might be cool if done right.
-
Pics are on their Facebook page .
-

They are done right and look very cool indeed. I don't need any more Cowboys, but would definitely go for a couple of boxes of Plains Indians.
:-*
-
This kit looks so good and is even more kitbashing fodder too. Quite excited about the prospect of combining this and stargrave kits.
-
The minis do little for me if I'm honest but I will pick up a box just for converting my Vesperados.... even the cow skull will be useful there 8)
-
I've not had Cowboys since my Timpo days - I think that may soon change :)
Bring on the empty horses!
-
Images from their FB page. Wild West gamers will have a field day with these no doubt, if only as spare bits for endless conversions.

Those sprues look great.
Love the cactus!
-
I am sure I won't be the only person wondering how these will scale with the Stargrave plastics :)

I imagine plastic cactus sets like the Pegasus Models one will be very popular over the next few months.

Oh no you are not the one ;)
-

Just about to ask that.
Now is there a head that will do for Mark Sheppard?
-
Been waiting forever for someone to take the plunge on this stuff. While I'm set on Cowboy miniatures I'll be picking up some for sure. I do hope it succeeds and there is a mounted cowboy set planned - that's the real thing I'd be after.
-
The set looks great, possibly the sort of thing I'll buy 'just in case.
-
Excellent. Will certainly pick up at least one box.

The only question now is: When are they going on sale?
-
I’m thinking an undead zombie posse.
-
The only question now is: When are they going on sale?
According to the latest newsletter, presale starts “within the next 10 days.”
-
Thanks folks. As said above, pre-order in the next 10 days, shipping from early June.

This is fantastic news and about time - they look great too...
Can't wait to get some grubby paws on these partner.
-
Really looking forward to these coming out. Wanted to get into some wild West gaming for some time and this is perfect.
-
They do look good!
-
These look very nice and are on my shopping list, l had not noticed these on the web elsewhere so a lucky spot on a board l do not usually visit!
-
Up for preorder now for - I've snagged two packs, one destined for sci fi :)

Wow, someone’s gone totally gangsta/ Flavor Flave with that sheriff’s star. That’s a mighty impressive bit of bling.
-
These look great - perfect for some not-Serenity/Firefly crews. B-)
-

Yeah, luckily that's a bit on the sprue which can be ignored :D That's definitely a bit too big, but perhaps it's just to be visible in case you're wearing it on the tabletop?
-
I was thinking of trimming the surrounding circle from the star to reduce it in size, it would make a great birthday badge though.
-
Excellent.
-
Released on June 16th. https://www.greatescapegames.co.uk/online-store/dead-mans-hand-plastic-gunfighters
Thanks for the comments and support. This is the first of our plastic sets for Dead Man's Hand. Second set is in development now.
And we're already discussing whether the third set will be ******* or ********.

Make some Plains Indians, complete with a sprue to build an Indian campsite...
and the Wild Westworld will beat a path to yer door!
:-*
-
Apaches or Mexicans! ;D
-
Civilians & Bystanders should be high on the priorities list. Every western town needs at least one old guy asleep in a rocking chair
-
And now for the bad news....... the box of 10 figures will cost 15 pounds. Which for us yanks is just over $21, or about $2.10/figure. Not super expensive, but not a bargain either. They're about 80 cents lower than say, Foundry per foot figure. A comparison with Perry plastics reveals their foot figures come to about 80 cents each.
I'm still getting a set because of the ability to create a custom figure, and frankly, for the cow skulls.
-
Yeah, the price is not stellar - for plastics. However, great metal figures are (minimum) around $3.50-4.00 a pop, so I can stomach half price - if I'm getting a lot of options. Particularly for games (even old ones such as Legends of the Old West) where gangs and posses develop. While most people don't go to that length, being able to build the same character with alternate weapons/etc. is a nice touch.
-
Is anyone going to be caring them in the U.S., early one? Or should I go ahead and order from the old world?
So, what is the second set?
I would enjoy civilians, but Mexicans would probably be my personal first choice for the next box. (Hopefully not marketed as bandits). Vaqueros! If so, maybe a head or two with the flat-crowned bolero type had? Not all vaqueros wore sombreros, but they are ubiquitous on Mexican Western minis currently available.
-Michael
-
Actually I’d happily go for some Mexican bandidos for Mex Rev. These chaps will be conversion donors for my Matewan miners.

Honestly you're normally better off ordering them from the island itself. I find way too many US companies charge over the MSRP or conversion rate for most UK products (Nobleknight being the absolute worst). Whereas I can order from, say, Northstar - and get the right price with comparable shipping, etc.
It's a shame there aren't more good U.S. retailer options for a lot of UK products. If the conversion from pounds to dollars puts a product at, say, $28....the US retailers almost always charge $35-40 for the product, etc. Buyer beware and all that.

Shipping to the USA is VERY expensive - hence the markup by retailers - they have to cover their costs somehow....
Mike
-
EDIT: I'll take this post down to avoid derailing a thread about a cool product.
-
Badger Games and others will stock them in the US. We ship for free with orders over £50.

Good to know. I know of my large collection of 4Ground, almost all of it has been ordered directly from you guys with the large discount combos, etc.
-
Yes, thanks for the feedback everyone. I may put together an order through GEG. The shipping deal is tempting...
-Michael
-
Well, that was easy... two boxes of the plastic GFs + some nice civilian packs did the trick.
I am really looking forward to playing with these multi-part plastic figures. I love assembling these types of figures, and have been hoping for some Western multi-part kits for years.

-
And we're already discussing whether the third set will be ******* or ********.
Ooh I hope it's *******; nobody wants ********.
;D

Hey, speak for yourself, Codsticker. Personally, I would love to have ********. But I have heard a credible rumor it's ********.
-Michael
-
Don't lie dude, you used to rail endlessly against the idea of **********s showing up on your Old West table.
-
> I'm still getting a set because of the ability to create a custom figure, and frankly, for the cow skulls.
There's one rope, cactus, and cow skull per sprue. You also get little tiny sheriff's badges and holsters, which you can use on other miniatures as well. (Harrowed Deadlands deputies, anyone?)
A custom figure is the sprue's strength. If you have a posse and can't find a non-sprue miniature for it, see if you can build it from this set.
On Dakka, Orlando posted a Wargames review of the set, which includes a pic of the sprue:
https://www.wargamesillustrated.net/great-escape-games-dead-mans-hand-plastic-gunfighters/
-
Interesting sculpting of the eyes. At first I thought they were wearing masks a la the Lone Ranger. Looks like they may be easier to paint; some dude like Cubs or Dags will be wet blending the irises on them. lol
-
These are great, all sorts of conversions are possible!
-
Oh, these look great.
I actually came to this part of the forum looking for ideas for models that could be used to make something in the theme of Hunt: Showdown... these are perfect.
Really look forward to the next sets.
-

Nah those are definitely horn-rimmed glasses. Can’t wait to put together a posse of librarians and maiden aunts.
-
Got my dispatch email this morning - really excited for these. Looking forward to mixing them with stargrave too and seeing how that works.

The price seems quite competitive as well, my old plans of doing a deadlands great rail wars game suddenly seem a lot more within budget.
-
I just ordered two boxes from Northstar. For those in the U.S. two boxes came to $51.00 shipped. So, not some amazing deal, but completely reasonable considering the amount of work you'll get out of this set.
If we're fortunate enough and additional kits are smartly designed...(assuming they occur) you'd likely be able to start swapping between most kits for extended variety.
-

Lulzzz... lol
If I had a wish it would be that there was a second pair of legs in chaps, with fringes.
-
Preorder arrived - will try and put pics up later but they're absolutely ace. A really crisp kit - one of the better non-GW sprues I've seen SHould scale well with Stargrave I think. They'll also scale OK with with Fireforge living dead I think - so a little bit of greenstuff work to match the sleeves will give you zombie cowboys pretty easily. Plenty of kit stuff to kitbash with metals here too. Ace.
-
Excellent to hear you have the set in hand and are quite pleased Jagganath. Mine have been shipped, but have a ways to travel, especially considering these still-troubled times. I am really looking forward to their arrival.
-Michael
-
I've now played with them a bit more and the kit is good. If you're OK patching and tweaking with greenstuff you can get some really nice naturalistic poses - I'll post one up later.
-
A set just arrived..... nicely done - good sprues with, at a quick glance, minimal clean up required. Cracking service from GEG too 8)
As I said earlier I'll be using it mostly for the bits rather than the minis - got plenty of cowboys already - and, apart from the previously mentioned oversized sheriff's badges, all look usable.
-
Pics are a little fuzzy, but got a preview sprue, and painted the heads. Each sprue has 11 heads, 5 upper body, and 5 lower body. So, since each box has two sprues (?), you can make ten figures from the box with unique heads.

All those heads lying around is a little disconcerting, Ced! :o
-Michael
-
For a moment I thought you'd done a batch of "buried up to their neck in sand, near the ant hill" markers
-
Still working on it (that's putty that's holding them together ~8)
I assembled some cowboys based on what poses would round out my collection. Other metal figures are Pinnacle Entertainment Game's "7th Gun" figures, GEG's "Cowboys" figures, and Reaper's Chronoscope figures.
Hope you guys get some ideas so you can paint them up faster and better!

Looking forward to these (in an order from NorthStar with the Revenants).
So, is there a head suitable to represent Mark Sheppard?

How do these match up with the Knuckleduster 32mm figures?
-
Those metals and plastics mix perfectly, and the pun is glorious. Full marks and bonus credits. lol

the pun is glorious.
Can't take credit for that; all credit belongs to the man who came up with this many years ago...

I'm simply weird enough to know a sculptor barking enough to make them 8)
-
Can someone with a sprue tell me how tall the finished figures are...say from soles of their boots to eye level?
Might have another use for them :)
-
Dont have a ruler to hand but they scale perfectly with Aritizan cowboys. What user are you thinking? I have so many kits for kitbashing I might be able to tell you if it'll work
-

Not the original poster, but I'd be very interested how well they match up with the WA Resistance fighters
-

I’m not looking to use with cowboys at all...completely different genre.
If you’ve got a crooked dice figure to hand, that would be a good benchmark though.
:)
-
Absolutely perfect with the crooked dice I have (the not Centurions) - would work for bits conversion. They’d kitbash nicely with the Wargames Atlantic resistance too - even more plastic pulp options. They’re a touch off the stargrave minis (a little less chunky) but still fairly easily workable especially head and arm swaps.
-
Thanks, good to know :)

Got mine, and they're excellent looking. Not planning on building them too soon - but I think it's a great purchase. As I'd argued in other threads/discussions for years...I was always shocked a generic multi-part cowboy box didn't exist....so GEG has stepped up. It's a smart move, I believe.
As someone who sees a lot of people playing Old West games and with many new players showing up, this box just became the starter package - regardless of the rules you're using. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone starting OW gaming.
-
Got mine the other day. Assembled 5 today - the rest will get assembled this weekend, and the whole lot will get primed straightaway after that. I'll post pics of them once painted up.
And I'll measure one or 2 up for you AKULA, if you still want actual measurements......
-
And I'll measure one or 2 up for you AKULA, if you still want actual measurements......
If you wouldn’t mind mate, that would be great...so many ideas about how to use these, and none of them involve cowboys :D
-
Okay. I finished assembling all 10 of Great Escape Game's (GEG) plastic cowboys. I measured the standing figures, and they measure just about 28mm to their eyes. I also kit-bashed a couple, using Wargames Atlantic (WA) French Resistance fighters' bodies. I took a shot of 2 of the GEG cowboys, with the 2 WA/GEG kit-bashed figures, and a Crooked Dice figure (I only have the modern US police...). The figs in the pic below are, left to right:
1. GEG plastic cowboy, straight from the box.
2. A kit-bashed fig. WA plastic French fighter body, with GEG head and cowboy shotgun arms. The arms fit fine, but the head took just a bit of minor surgery to fit the body.
3. GEG plastic cowboy, again, straight from the box.
4. Another kit-bashed figure. WA plastic French fighter body, pointing arm, and head, with GEG pistol arm.
5. A Crooked Dice police officer.
I must say, I really enjoyed assembling these figs. I have 10 completely different poses. Just gotta finish prepping and priming, then get them painted up. I'll post pics after they are done with painting.
-
Those plastic cowboys look very crisp and nice. It sounds like the GEG and WA use different methods of mounting the heads on the torsos?
-

Yes, they do. The GEG cowboys use the same way Warlord does, with the bottom of the neck a bit rounded that fits into a little well on the body. WA uses a flat-top neck as part of the body, and the head fits on accordingly. Just had to take the Xacto knife to the GEG head, and do a little shaping to fit the neck on the WA bodies.
-
Thank you Jim for measuring them, and the photos - they look perfect for what I have in mind
