Well having recently been inspired by Tactical Painter, V, and Moiterei's work in 20mm I decided to grab some AB Figures and give it a go. Nuff said - the figures are amazing in both quality and pose. They are a delight to paint.

Exquisite work, painting of the figs and the basing.
Your color choices on the fall camo are spot on and the blended helmet cover is really well done.

Great painting and basing!

Lovely work on those Germans, especially the camouflage. :-* :-*

Fantastic work. Much better than m efforts.

Thanks Gents the comments are appreciated.

Those do look terrific. When I moved back from Oz, I left all my 20mm behind, and everyone else here was doing 28mm, so I started collecting 28mm. I see the AB figures and wish I hadn't...
Lovely painting coupled with great sculpts is a winning combination.
-
Cheers Shahbahraz - I've pretty much decided to go with the AB figures for gaming, in 20mm (CoC) but will carry on painting in 28mm just for the fun of it. I'm more a figure painter than gamer, so it works for me.

Just received my first figures from Adler Miniatures and I am very impressed. I ordered the last required troopers for my late war Germans, but could not resist getting a pack of US Airborne in order to start building the next CoC platoon. Primed and ready for some paint.

I can't wait to get to these later in the week

Senior Leader is painted - I think I'm happy with him, but might yet strip him back and paint again.

Amazing work on these Pete, really well done.
I love pea dot camouflage, you've really done it justice here and following up with some great colour choices for the yanks, makes this a stand out project.
Thank you for sharing
Cheers

That’s some most excellent work on display, Pete! Your take on the camo is excellent and of course I do applaud your decision to go 20mm as well.
-
Those US Airborne are really excellent, may I ask what colours you have used, as I reckon they are spot on?

Shahbahraz - Thanks.
As for the colours used, and don’t hate for this, they are a real smorgasbord of the paints I have accumulated over the years.
When painting the Germans, it was all about the camouflage scheme, with that providing the “visual interest” of the figures. The challenge with the US Para’s is how to make a figure that is essential olive drab all over interesting.
These two figures were pretty much painted as a test bed to establish what colours to use and how best to paint the figures, and I must re-emphasize they are stunning figures from Adler.
So as I can tell I’m starting to waffle here, my process for these is as follows.
1. Primed white
2. Base costed with Vallejo 71.012 Dark Green (this is a model Air paint and applied with the airbrush across the whole figure).
3. M43 uniform painted with Scale75 SFG13 Undead Flesh
4. Nuln Oil applied not as a flood wash, but rather painted as a pin wash in the shadow areas, and to outline pockets, seams and other details.
5. A second coat of thin undead flesh painted to clean up areas from the nuln oil.
6. M43 highlights then painted with a mixture of undead flesh, SFG41 Hykey Yellow and a light gray.
7. Webbing, pouches and backpacks etc were then touched up with Andrea Colour AC-5 Russian Khaki, and then highlighted with a little Hykey Yellow being added to the Russian Khaki
8. Helmet, grenades, torches etc painted with AK 3025 Medium Green, with scrim painted/drybrushed with the remnants of the undead flesh, and hykey yellow on the palette.
9. The helmet and webbing then had nuln oil carefully applied into recesses and shadow areas.
To my mind the secret to painting these figures is to create a strong contrast between the shadow and in light areas. This is what creates the visual interest, giving the figures depth. Little accents of colour then enhance this, the faces, boots, gloves weapon stocks etc.

Now that is some more good looking stuff. Germans, Americans, figures, vehicles, buildings - something for everyone! Nicely done!

What to do when you receive a damaged sprue - well first you arrange a replacement, and then you utilise what you have. In this case we end up with a little bit of table scatter or a destroyed vehicle marker. The PSC 1/72 Sdkfz 250 neu.

Great work - the idea and scratch built pieces really work well together.
I don’t think I’ve seen a failed injection moulded sprue before - took me a while to work out what I was looking at, very odd.

Just catching up with this thread and not sure how I missed it. Lovely work here on everything, while the AB Figures I know well, I’m yet to acquire any Adler but they look first class too. Great thread.

You‘ve got some fabulous stuff on display here!
-
Cheers Gents for the kind words.
With the Churchill out of the way I'm now making some barrage markers.
Wire, soft foam and clump, along with a liberal application of pva glue and then painted.
