I've set up a FB discussion group for any like minded folk that enjoy the characterful sculpted miniatures. Entitled in homage to the Yahoo group, this has a wider remit for any of those figures from bygone time. So if you like strip minifigs or valley of the four winds come and have a look

thanks

Not on Facebook anymore, but those mini figs boxes bring back memories!

The old Yahoo MM group was great, plenty of people willing to buy, sell or exchange figures and help out with collections, it was a shame it did not make the move to iO like a lot of the ex Yahoo gaming groups.
I won't do anything on facebook so have no desire to join, but good luck with the group.

Sent a request of, very interested in the group. :)

Ah, when I was a lad, I used to go down to Brighton to visit Mike's Models little subterranean shop. Happy days... I had a 15mm Mike's Models Ottoman army. At the time, MM's characterful little figures were as revolutionary in 15mm as Essex Miniatures were in 25mm.
I'd completely forgotten about those Minifigs cardboard boxes too. At one time I had hundreds of them lol
I've signed up for the nostalgia value :)

It is the blue Hinchcliffe boxes that I remember fondly.

I have a bunch of ECW and Colonial figures plus some VFW stuff. Fond memories of gaming with them all back in the day.

I had a 15mm Mikes Models Teutonic Knights army as a child. Loved the miniatures and had countless hours of fun with them despite rarely (if ever) winning.
I'm not on FB but hope the page is successful.

They were the start of my Napoleonics collection, and still soldiering on!

MM Renaissance Polish for me - oh! Those Winged Lancers :-)

for sure.

Request sent. I spend far too much time on FB... it's a great reach out for the hobby in truth these days. I got a lot of old Mikes Models stuff via the Yahoo Group. I ran two groups (Dragontooth and Archive Miniatures) which are sadly gone now.

bought a whole lot of crap (in the sense of not much use - sappers etc) renaissance hinchliffe from Bill Brewer when he was closing down just so I could have a load of them!

I have 2 large armies of original Mike's Models. One is an Arab Empire. Both are unpainted. Would be happy for them to go to a fan. No charge. I am never going to do anything with them.

Any "Mike Fans" recognize these little guys?

Warrior Miniatures do a similarly proportioned range, one of many, iirc. If not MM they could be from there.
-
The guy on the right end is from one of the Renaissance/ECW/30yrs War Infantry command packs (same figure also exists with ECW style felt hat).
Although I never had any of them the cavalry figure looks like the type of thing MM would have sold as a Samurai.
Sadly I have mislaid my catalogue listing so cannot give an idea of pack numbers.
-
I have several SYW armies of Mike's Models but they stopped production before I could buy more. They haven't seen the table in quite a while. I'll need to get them out for a game.
-
Still have a lot of MM's serving in my ECW armies. The Renaissance range is still available from Essex miniatures, They are cast to order and have no pictures but all who know MM's figs will know what the're like.

The hobbit is actually an early Ral Partha miniature sculpted by Tom Meier, and one of my favourite miniatures of all time :)

Can't believe that I never knew that was there when I was painting 15mm ancients as a young lad in central Brighton in 1985!
