Title: Looking for 15mm/18mm napoleonic civilians
Post by: shandy on June 04, 2021, 05:06:55 PM
Hi!

I'm looking for 18mm (or 15mm in a pinch) napoleonic civilians, preferable for the German/Austrian theatre of war. There doesn't seem to be much out there? I know the Blue Moon stuff, but fashion-wise it is either too early (pirates, FIW) or too late (ACW).

I'd also take stml files for 3-D printing, if nothing else is available. I just can't believe it - napoleonics is such a popular period...

Thanks for your help!

Best,
Thomas

Try Warrior Miniatures of Glasgow. IIRC they have some in the Gallic ranges.

Not quite what you asked, but Fantassin (became Warmodeling not sure what it is now) produced a couple cantinieres in 18mm. The standing one in bicorn is ok but has weak ankles - apply crazy glue immediatly to bulk them up. The other figure is a cantiniere sitting a mule side-saddle in a very nice top hat and a cask of spirits slung on the mule. It is a great figure. We use it as a marker for who has the initiative, etc.

Edit: Stonewall Figures has the viandieres.

Edit 2: under Carabiners Cassique, they also have camp followers for the French Revolutionary period. No photos, have not seen them but they are 18mm.

Hmm, don't think I've ever come across free range civilian figures.  They tend to flee before the battles.  There are some armed ones.

MiniFigs has male and female Russian Partisans.  MiniFigs and Old Glory 15s have Spanish Guerillas.  Probably others do too.

Thanks for the help!

@Moriarty: I couldn't find civilians on the Warrior site, but thanks for pointing me there, they do have some useful stuff.

@vtsaogames: Ah yes, Stonewall, I forgot about them, thanks!

@cat: Thanks! Yes, civilians usually try to flee before battles, but for skirmish games, they can be very useful and add to the narrative.

What I'm after is basically something like the Blue Moon civilians packs, but for napoleonics, so assorted men & women standing around, doing chores etc.

If you find more, please let me know!

Cheers,
Thomas

Hmm.  I think the Partisans & Guerrilleros with weapon snips would be the most period accurate ones you'll find.

Otherwise, the next closest image I can think of are in the Blue Moon Horror range: Sleepy Hollow, London Townsfolk, and Angry Villagers (with torches and weapon snips, or with axes and whatnot if they're defending the farms).

Ah, the Blue Moon Sleepy Hollow range, that's a good idea, I'll look into it! Thanks!
