Title: Samurai Retinues for Lion Rampant?

Lion Rampant is a great ruleset. What unit rules have people used, if any, for warring feudal Japan retinues?

I think the Shogun Total War style of units port pretty much directly to Lion/Dragon Rampant units.  How historical they are I don't know.

eg

Foot Samurai = Elite Foot
Mounted Samurai = Elite Riders or Light Riders with bows
etc

I think there are rules for Samurai in some army lists for Pikemans Lament, depending if you want to go with gunpowder weapons for some units or not.

Michael Leck did do an article for that in Wargames Soldiers & Stategy Magazine.
