Title: Played a game of Stargrave at last.
Post by: nicknorthstar on June 11, 2021, 05:44:39 PM
We are able to meet up for gaming at our local pub again these last few weeks, so I've got my Stargrave Crew into action at last.

I played Mike Wilkins who cobbled together the terrain and did a great job. I had to lend him my Space Cultists as his Crew as he wasn't ready yet, but my new Crew are (bar the basing).

Great fun. Absolute carnage, I only had three figures left on the board at the end. Didn't help my cause rolling on the 'random encounters' table and getting a Warbot show up on my baseline.

I'm spending this evening rolling up the results and getting the crew their first experience points.

Love the "big giant head" terrain piece there.  Begs for a sign stuck in the ground reading "Other End of Ozymandius" or somesuch.

Hurray for Zoidberg and that greenhouse. Great idea that.

I’m glad both Earther and Grumpy Gnome said that, I looked at the model, thought “whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop” and then hesitated to comment as I thought I may be way off the mark and insult you (maybe a Star Wars reference I didn’t get). Scenery is excellent, very much the Firefly styling I like (and always saw Rogue Trader/40K as, before it mutated, escaped and went on a skull emblazoned rampage).

That looks like a fun game, I wonder if I can get some of the painfully mainstream gamers at my club interested. It didn’t work for Frostgrave but Sci-if is more their thing.

Great looking terrian and models. Are your guys StarWars bad batch inspired?

Yes, you've marked my card correctly. The core of the Crew are Bad Batch inspired, with Ziodberg recruited as a medic  lol (Shame we didn't put crab claw hands on the Stargrave plastic Crew frame.)

The rest of the crew is made up of free scumbags, though they performed quite well in the game.

Love the setup.  Especially like the greenhouse.

Sneak the claws in on the sprue of some future release.

We could do with a "modular alien" kit in the same style as the existing stuff.  Five different species of bodies on each frame and a slew of different heads and limb sets to build your own species.  Use ball-and-socket joints so everything's more cross-compatible and doing non-humanoid designs is actually viable.  So tired of Star Trek aliens where it's a human body with bad prosthetics on the head.

Stop highjacking my 'playing a game' post with your wish list, I'm off the clock.  :)

Clearly you need to either post another match report or get back to work, then.  :)

Sorry! But you brought up the claw...

Do you have their next mission scheduled?
