Doing a new series of posts showcasing various NPCs loitering around Felstad and other McCullough fantasy game settings on the blog, starting with Hund One-Arm here:

Wow, great conversion idea!

8) hells yea....way cool!!!!

In cant stop to think about, which unpainted miniature of mine could I cripple, to do this... >:D

Should I confess that I had him fully painted and then decided I didn't like the dagger I had in his hand, so I maimed the poor guy and painted the spike after everything else? Failing to plan is planning to fail, as the old saying goes. :)
At least it inspired a neat backstory, even if I cribbed it in part from an old D&D character of mine who saw vampires everywhere. "Vampire kobolds! Vampire giant rats! Vampire mule! Ahhhh!"

New post in the series, this time dwelling on a group of mercenary archers who are probably not bandits looking for easy marks to rob when they leave Felstad. Also tweaked Hund's special rules in the previous post to give him a more characterful drawback. He's not as sticky-fingered as One-Eyed Jacques and his lads are, if for no other reason than having fewer fingers to start with.

Meet Head Taker, a former gladiatorial champion from down south, come to Felstad while things cool down a bit back home:

A very mean looking dude. Those archers make up a handy bunch of ne'er-do-wells too.
-
:o nice!!!

Very creative and nice painting.

New post in this series, this time showing off some members of the Brazen Skull Brotherhood, a mercenary company that specializes in what's euphemistically known as "adventuring work" in the trade. Most sellswords prefer the more predictable risks of military operations or simple leg-breaking jobs, but these guys are trained for delving, monster hunting, and tagging along on heroic quests and proud of it.

Pretty cool look!
-
:o fabtastic!!! well dun!!!!
-
They might be good at their trade, but they absolutely lack PR skills. Brazen Skull Brotherhood sounds more like a cult instead of a company of "honourable contractors" such as they are.

They mostly work for adventurers, particularly relative newbies who are looking to hire extra muscle to help deal with caves full of kobolds and goblins and the like. A bit of edginess sells to that crowd. More experienced parties don't make great employers for mercs, even fairly well-trained ones. They tend to be careless about throwing AoE spells around and often see NPCs (ie everyone who's not a long-term party member) as expendable.
The actual sinister cult is coming up in another couple of posts. :)

One last post for June, this time the aforementioned sinister Cult of Violet Shadows, who've been playing random baddies (and occasionally a Summoner wizard's crew) around my version of Felstad for quite a while now. Lots of photos at the blog link:

Great colours and i love the mutated spider cultists, what kit are the spider parts from?
-
yes- excellent.

Wargames Atlantic's giant spider box contributed the limbs. As I said on the blog post itself, the head on the demon came from the bits box, specifically a leftover from a botched KS that never went to full retail sale so I won't tease people with it.
I've said this before but I'll say it again, that spiders kit is great but it handicaps itself badly by showing less than half the contents on the box photos. You get twelve of each size of spider rather than just six, plus six of each of the two wrapped-up victim sculpts and a plethora of spare limbs (and maybe techno-bits if you don't build the scifi versions). Even after building the whole box and doing these conversions and some others I've still got a fair pile of scuttler legs in the bits box. Great deal all around.

Those mutants look awesome!

8) fabtastic batch!!!!
-
A creepy but nice display of body horror.

New post in the series, showing off a bunch of no-talent bums, louts and oafs, their slightly more cunning pal Bloody Jack Fracks, and a new house rule to mix things up a bit in your McCullough games.

Great stuff as usual mate! Your “blood soaked” house rule sounds good.
-
Very nice indeed. Especially like the faces.
-
:D hells yes....sweet!!!!!!!!

Thanks, although the sculptor deserves most of the credit there. Really excellent amount of variety and personality in all the North Star plastic heads I've had teh pleasure of working with.

New blog post in this series showing off the regular everyday sellswords loafing about outside of Felstad waiting for some wizard to pay for their living expenses and no doubt indulging in a little light banditry while doing so.

Work is work and at the end of the day one needs to have some sustenance :D
-
I had a couple of questions come in so I'll answer here - all the "quartered" shields in the images are from the bits box - ancient 80s or early 90s era GW plastic shields. I'm actually finally starting to run out of them after all these years.

Haven't done a Frostgrave blog post in a while, so here's a gallery of some of my spellcasters:

Looking good mate! And as usual nice I like your ideas. Inthink I need to add some more belt accessories to my necromancers now.
-
good stuff.

Great looking wizards

Or maybe a trio, since the Chronomancer is actually one person from two slightly divergent timelines. More pics and commentary on teh blog link:

Nice work mate. Clever idea on the Chronomancer.

Nice work mate. Clever idea on the Chronomancer.
Seemed like an obvious gimmick for the timey-wimey wizard school. Plus it gave me an excuse to grab a second box of the female wizards kit to mine for parts. :)
-
Clever idea with the Chronomancer, yes. But, how did they agree on who was being the Apprentice and who the master Wizard?
-
Love it. Beautiful work.
May I ask what miniatures line the Greenfletch Bowmen are from? I like those sculpts.

Thanks. One-Eyed Jacques and his pals were a mix of parts from the first Frostgrave Soldier box, the Barbarian box, a couple of bits from the Cultist set, and I think one of the quivers is from a Ghost Archipelago Snake-Man frame. So all available from North Star, or Brigade Games in the US (as opposed to Brigade Models in the UK, who are entirely different people).

Thanks!
