Some very original interpretations of the theme :)

Great stuff well done :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

This was by far the hardest group to come to decision on. All great builds! :-* :-*
-
A very tough group!
Braz: I think this is a really clever way of representing really rough rocky ground that is nevertheless fully playable. I wouldn't drink from that pool though!
McMordain: I love the colours, very retro Sci fi. These pieces really brighten up a table as well as perfectly fitting the description of difficult ground, and the little details are really effective.
Dr Mathias: A very impressive rockface! It looks very playable, and features lovely little details (I would like to see more close ups). It also made me think of the Prince's Bride.
Carhn: Wonderfully natual looking! Beautifully painted and put together with skill to look so realistic.
Well done all!

Great work all, lots of great entries this year.
Braz, the Roughlands look great, very brutal looking.
Nice vivid colors on the alien swamp, my Retro Raygun minis would love to have something like that to fight over :)
Great overgrown foliage on the wattle fences- looks like the sort of spot my armies would get bogged down on and killed back when I played rank-and-file games lol
I have to say that Olfactomancer build is not only unique, it's well made conceptually and technically. Love that thing!

Love them all 8)

Yup!

amazing utterly.
-
Braz- nice colour on those roughlands
McMordian- I can imagine that surrounded by some wacky coloured alien trees.
Bearwoodman- Crazy idea, brilliantly executed! :-*
DrMathias- Just....fantastic. Now we need the rest of the dungeon leading to those stairs! ;)
Good luck everyone!
-
Great pieces of terrain guys! Very well done.
-
Great builds - well done everybody.

Well, voting in the BSC is never easy, but man, these are some really great works.

Yep, some alien trees are on the to do list. No idea when I will make them though, so don't hold your breath :D

Wow - just WOW. I’m glad i’m not in this group for fear i’d get maybe 1 vote and not guaranteeing it would be mine either. In soccer terms - this is the group of death.
These pieces are truly creative in all phases - idea, design, construction, painting, details. You all should be very proud of the work. Makes my efforts seem amateur-ish.
Hard choice to choose only one - i’d choose multiples if i could.
-
Those are incredible, and look even better than we could have imagined reading your in progress threads! :o :o
Impossible choices! The textures you all managed to achieve...wow! :-*

My hat is off to everyone else in this group. Certainly no lack of inspiration here either! Well done all.
-
so many cool ones here. I really want to see a scenario played on the olfactory terrain
-
Congrats to all participants - excellent work. Thank you for participating, sharing and inspiring.

Some really original interpretations of the theme.
Well done DrMathias on winning your group :)
-
Congratulations good doctor on winning in this group.
Sadly only one will progress, since there were several that deserve to go on to the next round in my opinion. Still; there will be some more excellent pieces of difficult ground in use now!
@Bearwoodsman; I sincerely hope you will expand on the Olfactomancer background, because that fluff is just wonderful, and I think I can now express that your piece actually was my absolute favourite of the competition; I just love it. So congratulation to you as well, for producing such a wonderfully imaginative piece of difficult ground :)
-
Congratulations DrMathias! Your build's combination of imppressive overall size and careful details finished with a beautiful and atmospheric paint job make it a deserved winner. The fact that it also is a very playable piece (with the twist that it is in a different plane than usual) means it has a great chance going forward in the competion. Good luck!
Daeothar and Beefcake: Thanks for your comments. Do not fear, you have not seen (or smelt) the last of the Olfactomancers! The fountain will definitely feature in future games, and I have selected the figure who will be my apprentice. Once he is finished I intend to start a new thread on the Frostgrave board - although freed from the iron discipline of a BSC deadline I am making no promises as to when that will be!
-
Congrats to dr mathias. Such a creative and well constructed entry. Speaking of creative…I also want to see more olfactory stuff and I don’t even play frostgrave so high praise indeed. This group had such amazing entries from everyone, really inspiring me to do another BSC.
-
Thanks all, I appreciate the comments. Bittersweet since my personal favorite (Olfactomancer, I don't mind saying it) isn't advancing, but after years of doing the LPL and other online competitions, I certainly never know how people are going to vote! I've seen my favorites (my own and others') get knocked out more than once!
Well done my fellows, well done. I think everyone ended up with a quality, and usable, terrain piece, which is what its about!
-
And ask per yesterday we have a winner:
DrMathias!
Congratulations!
You have until tomorrow to submit a new photo if you like!

Alrighty, new one incoming.

really a shame there had to be 'winner' out of those. Just fantastic.

Dr Mathias, well done, congratulations!
And congratulations is in order for everyone else too. This was a fun BSC, see you guys next time :)
