I’m actually playing ancients, using North African Numidians.
I’m allowed “field fortifications” but not sure what these should look like.
After much thought, I’m thinking very similar to Zulu Kraal.
Are there any companies out there making Zulu Kraal scenery?
28mm or perhaps smaller scales because it could be quite big in real life.
So 20mm or even 15mm?
Thanks

I can't think of any I made my own out of sticks and a hot glue gun for my Ngoni army

Tbh if I was looking for field fortifications I'd be looking at that staple of African warfare the thorn bomba which was defence made from chopped down thorn bush.

Good tip,
Now how do I make/buy that!
-
I’d be tempted to use coconut hair…..like used in plant holders?
-
As Digits said coconut fibre for hanging baskets is what I used for my thorn bomba there is a link to how I made mine on my blog here it really is very easy.

Funnily enough I’ve just logged back on to say I’ve bought some coconut fibre scrubbing pads off eBay for a fiver, so I’ll have a go at making them myself.
I’ll post on my Numidian army thread when I get going on them.
Cheers guys.

Sorry but I disagree. Zulu lived in South Africa, Numidians in the opposite side of Africa. I mean if you want to build a Huron camp you do not use Aztec's one. North Africa in that period was much less desertified. Specifically which wars and enemies? I suggest a sort of Roman wood palisade more rough . Anyway if you play against Scipio remember it must be fireproof, if you play later period spare the money to bribe the Roman generals, only possibility...to ally with them against Carthago lol
In this site you can find some ideas: https://stwiddy.wordpress.com/tag/numidians/
Those are my 2 cents...

Yes agreed, typical British bloke thinking everyone is the same in Africa! lol
It was more a case of the closest thing I could think of as easy build quick fortifications.
Apologies for any upset.
Thanks for the pointer.

you are welcome Tim The right process should be:
step 1 which material / scenery do I already have?
step 2 build a rigorous theory that perfectly justify the use of that material in the scenario;
step 3 wargame!
All the best
