I have been working on this little project for a few weeks now after watching the Montreal Canadiens blast their way into the Stanley Cup Final over the past month or so. I thought "How can I make some hockey figures?" I researched and found some suppliers, and was all ready to buy some more figs... and then I remembered the looming pile of plastic glowering at me from the closet and decided to convert some.
Using the Blood Bowl Necromantic Team I started cutting and gluing and then painting, and then making terrain.... and here's the first finished figure:

Next up will be some more from this Necromantic team that I have named the Ulfenkarn Monsters.

Neldoreth that is beautiful work. The conversion really transforms that miniature into a hockey player, well done. Paint job is lovely. Please show us more,

Great idea and nice work on that first player! How did you model the stick? I do like the loose tape. Would you adapt Blood Bowl rules to ice hockey?

That's a lovely conversion and really well painted. Very nice pose too; good stance, looking down at the puck (which is just off his base), I bet he has a hell of a half slapper. :D

Reminds me of the old video games...there was one about a Blood Bowl styled hockey game, though the collection of games escapes me.

It's been a slow project, and I don't really have any additional completed figures yet.... I do have a couple of WIP figures that I want to show.
Here's the goalie... I might just leave that fist back there, I might put a metal claw in it, or I might sculpt an old-timey hockey glove... or I might just put a fish/butterfly net in his hand for fun... What do you all think?!?

Here's one of the skaters that is closed to being done. I am really liking the frozen-blue deadflesh look... I wasn't sure at first, but now I am really starting to like it. It still looks dead, and it has an ice-like theme to it, and it's not just another zombie to go with the hundreds of other painted zombies I have.... what do you all think of the blue skin? There's much more skin on this figure (and the other figures) compared to the first pumpkin-headed fig that I did originally.

I think the goalie looks great. The zombie skater does as well.
Will you attach the hockey mask of the goalie with greenstuff band? Or will you make a sort of helmet for him?

The movement of that goalie is pure Glenn Hall (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Hall) but the clenched fist suggests Ron Hextall:

Not into hockey at all (not into football, but I have both Blood and guild bowl).
These mini's are great. Brutal and goofy and magnificantly painted.

For the mask, I'm going to keep it as a old-school face mask, but I'll probably put a bolt right in the forehead to fix it in place, as opposed to straps. I love the idea that for the golem/frankenstein monster one would just bolt the mask in place, kinda like irony...

Haha, Ron Hextall was the best. If this golum can be half of the fighter that Hextall was, then her will be a winner every time! :)

Latest player is based on the ghoul from the set.
Along with this one I have completed two others which I will photograph shorty, and then that will mean just two more to finish the team!
