Title: An Empire Wizard in Felstad
Post by: Kaluthmar on July 13, 2021, 04:07:05 AM
Earlier in the year I was able to get some Frostgrave games in.  I repurposed some Warhammer Empire and Mordheim figures for my warband.  Between the games, I finally got some paint on these guys.

In the most recent game I played, I had a fully painted warband, which hasn't happened in a long time.

Neat.  I recognize most of the demons (Murch's oni no kamu from Clan War, 50 Fathoms octopons from Old Glory, and Chainmail abyssal maws from WotC) but what are the pink toothy things?

Chief Lackey Rich, unfortunately I do not remember.  I purchased them at my FLGS years ago.  I did buy them with some other generic human sized demons and one ogre sized one.  I did pick a summoner to play just to use these guys.

Well drat, I guess they'll remain a mystery.  Don't run into many older figs I can't recognize these days.

I can't decide if the best reason to play a Summoner is to get some use out of random monster figs you have, or to use as an excuse to buy more.  :)

I finally added a few more soldiers to the team.  The Ostermark guys (white and purple) were color tests for my empire army.

I hope needing to add to your Frostgrave warbands keeps your enthusiasm for painting up your entire army.

Then I can keep seeing these wonderful older figures in their true glory.

Great looking war band and demons!

I like the idea of using Frostgrave bands as a test bed for colour schemes you might use in an army. If a scheme doesn’t grab you, the figure becomes one more guy in Felstad with a questionable fashion sense, and if you do like it he becomes the founding member of a regiment…

Excellent, and a nice idea to use the Frostgrave figures as a test bed.

Thanks everyone.  It has been fun painting for Frostgrave (Mordheim).  They will also do extra duty as free company soldiers for my Oldhammer Empire army.  Here are a few more troops that I was experimenting with contrast paints for their uniforms.  I liked the blue and red best.
