Trying out Kevin Calder's "Bonnie Blue Flag" ACW rules for a purpose they were not intended but for which they turned out to be very suitable.
A simple engagement between a Shogunate force comprising 8 regular infantry, 1 Shinsengumi, 1 regular cavalry and 1 artillery unit, and an Imperial force comprising 7 regular infantry, 1 cavalry and 1 artillery unit. The objective was to control a walled temple compound in the centre of the table.
Despite the reasonably balanced forces and the fact that the Shogun started with a unit in the temple the Imperial army was triumphant. This could perhaps just have been caused by my consistently bad dice rolling.
Figures all from Bac Ninh. Flags from Adrian's Walls. Buildings from Village Green, TT Combat and Oshiro.

What I meant to say was infantry by Bac Ninh, cavalry from Foundry and Artillery from Perry with Bac Ninh heads.

Lovely!
Which figures did you use to represent the cavalry? Looks like some are based on ACW (maybe?), but what range are the lancers from?
