Hi all,
following popular demand and a swing of enthusiasm for the recently-released Stargrave miniatures game, we decided to rename the former "Rogue Stars" board to "Sci-Fi Small Skirmish Games", in order to collect topics here which are specifically for small skirmishes, that is those where you only field a "gang", a "crew" or what would you call it, as opposed to larger games featuring platoons and companies.
This is, of course, a rather loose definition, and there will be some overlap with regards to settings that support either, such as Warhammer 40K which has Kill Team and Necromunda.
As a general rule, I'd suggest the following guidelines:
- If the game ONLY supports small group actions, such as Rogue Stars, and is by its mechanisms not really suited for larger games than ca. 5-10 figures per side, it is appropriate for this board and should probably be put here.
- If the game is properly scalable and would support both small group skirmishes and larger games, it depends on your topic's focus if you should put it here or on the general Future Wars board.
- If the game doesn't really work at a very small scale without some substantial modification, e.g. standard 40k, it should probably best go onto the Future Wars board.
That said, I don't think we'll have to be too rigorous about this classification. I have already moved existing Stargrave and Rogue Stars threads here, and if you have an existing topic for another game (or one where I couldn't tell it from the title), feel free to notify me and I will move the topic(s) over here if you prefer to do so.
Also, it is not obligatory for topics to be placed on this board just because they are about one of these games, such as if you feel it may attract a bigger audience on the Future Wars board. It would make it easier for people interested in the small games to find their chosen topics rather than having to search through the 200+ pages of the Future Wars board.

Ok no worries, original Rogue Trader 40K should go on this page also I assume? As this was the size of game that I have always felt the rules were best at ;).

Thank you! This board will help gamers like myself who play small skirmish games.

As I see it, if the scenario/campaign/specific subject of the topic is small-scope skirmish and not a big action, then it's perfectly fine to put it on here. If it's about bona fide battles, best keep using the Future Wars "parent board".

Duly noted. I take it Necromunda and Deadzone would also belong here?

Oky-dokey ;)

Necromunda would be fine, too. Dead zone I don't know. As written above, it's not hard and fast that you have to put such topics here, and I won't be moving topics here by default, but you're welcome to put them here provided there's a definitive small-scope focus.

Deadzone's pretty solidly a skirmish game, you almost never see more than a dozen figures on a side, at least in the current edition. Reminds me a lot of Kill Team, actually. Which is probably not an accident. :)

I'd like to put in a plug for the recently released Insurgent Earth, a post-Alien Invasion solo/co-op skirmish game.
