Absolutely superb :-*
-
Top notch 8)
-
FANTASTIC!! :o :-*
-
Very nice 8)
-
Great :o And very inspirational too!
-
The rust, fungal growth, and bent down fencing especially nice.
I abused my miniature playground even further by introducing pigs and made it into a sty. with all the play apparatus intact. Pretty gross. Nice objective to have too, pigs. Introduced a rule that NO ONE is allowed to shoot into the playground/pig sty. Anyone doing so is subject to execution, immediately or during the level up phase at the end of the game. Pigs are too valuable, not as food source, but as a pigpoop-ahol fuel source. Big no no shooting into the playground/sty. Hand to hand fighting is allowed inside the fence. What octane number would you give pig generated liquid fuel? Thinking of an intoxication rule for them hanging around the exhaust bloom of working pig-fueled engines, which floats an mouth watering aroma of bacon.
You did a really good job with the Playground. I especially enjoyed the slide Elephant motif. Excellent.
-
That’s a great piece… lovely photography too
-
That is absolutely brilliant.
It manages to convey a great sadness - proper apocalyptic. :'(
-
That is Really awesome! :-*
-
Superb work there, love it. 8)
-
Great work.
-
Wow.... Quite unsettling...
-
Excellent piece, very atmospheric.
On a practical note, how do you store something like that? Do you just find an apropriately sized box?
I ask as I myself have now reached a point where my limited space is exhausted, so a primary consideration when I build or buy anything is where and how I'm going to store it.

Amen to that Brother.
I greatly exceeded available space when I made my 'Build something'
ruined Roller Coaster earlier this year. I was so involved in getting
it all done in time, I broke the golden rule. First & foremost where
do I store it? At the moment it is taking up more than its fair share
of shelf space. Worse! It is now sending out messages to my sub-
conscious about building the rest of the ruined Fair Ground, and
a horde of Zombies to go with it!!!! :o :o :o
-
Thanks for all the comments.

It fits neatly into a 4L Really Useful Box, at some point it will join some other terrain in a 9L RUB, which is why the elephant slide and swing frame are removable to reduce the overall height. Like you I consider storage before I build these days with the aim of fitting things into one of a few standard size RUBs which in turn fit neatly into my available cupboard space.

I need to start doing that lol
-
Amazing!
-
That really is horrible and depressing - in the best possible way!
The rust effects are awesome.

Started on some trees for the 'Red Forest' using Bullshot's original idea.
They are Woodland Scenics TR1125 Pine Tree Armatures with the lower branches removed and given a simple glaze of burnt sienna over a khaki base coat. Trunks are washed with charcoal black.

That is such a great idea
-
That playground is brilliantly done, I really like it. The forest is highly effective too. Very impressive stuff.
-
Excellent stuff , the forest looks great, and will work equally well in a fantasy setting
-
They work well :)
-
Damn smart!

I bought a Soviet General Staff map of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone from a Chernobyl tour company. $30 USD. Two sided. Detail laden. Nice for locating road nets, water courses, burgs and villes. Found a list of check points that generally control entry to the Zone on line as well. Want to slip a Stalker team over the Belarus line? You can plan it out, measure distances, and know where you are going.
Here's the tour URL at the map link: https://www.chernobyl-tour.com/chernobyl_zone_map_en.html
The site is klunky as I recall. Had to email the guy there and set up a payment, then hope and pray. But map arrived.
Loved that Red Forest image too
-
That is excellent!
-
What a wonderful idea!
I love what you have done with the place!*

Tough neighbourhood! lol lol lol

The forest of trees for some reason reminded me of the clearing in Twin Peaks.

They are really good, and I like the composition of this photograph.
Must see if I can find a set of those (somewhere in the house...).

Painted up some machinery for a post apocalyptic workshop

Oh, they are a bit nice!

Tribute to the glorious 3D printer! My Prusa has produced about 400 items since Spring. What a great soul saver in a pandemic!
-
Nice machinery. Reminds me of the climax of Terminator.

If the "little piggies" are more like hogs, you can also feed them any opponents who come your way.
I assume you could also feed them ZED parts and the poop would still be combustible without being an infection issue.

Painted a 'dead tourist' marker.
-
That's cool, love the bullet hole 8)
-
That is very well done
-
Very atmospheric. It's great to see such attention to detail on game markers, they look so much better than just counters (in my opinion).
-
Just caught up on this thread :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Stunning work
What are you doing with the workshop stuff ?
It reminds me of my old work
-
Nice progress,great marker 👍
-
Very nicely done.

Wise words!

Excellent, this is growing into a great thread.
-
Brilliant piece, very atmospheric.
-
Governments are getting very tough on tourists
that haven't been 'double jabbed' lol lol lol
-
I love it! The coloros are great, and the bullet hole is amazing.
-
Thanks for all the comments.

I'm going to be building a small industrial unit at some point and the machinery will be going inside that.
-
Painted up my hazmat suited scientists
-
They look fantastic. Quite intimidating as a crew.
-
The blue is magnificent

Where are these from?
Very heavily armed for scientists :D
lovely work :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Very heavily armed for scientists :D
Some samples just don't want to be collected. :D
-
Bloody hell!!
That is one bunch of scientists that you would not want to mess with, especially Professor Negan on the left, I have heard he is a little unpredictable!

absolutly love that
been trying to sort my POI terrain at the moment too

He does have a bit of a Negan vibe now you mention it lol
-
Only just caught up on these, very nicely done. Very realistic looking suits. :)
-
A great looking project. The playground and dead tourist will definitely bring an apocalyptic atmosphere to the table.
-
fabulous project
-
Thanks again for all the comments.
Been adding some markers and hazards to the setup.
Some Barrels, some Oil Drums and some 'Aggressive Flora' in the form of some seed pods that have been 'repurposed'
-
Excellent stuff - absolutely stealing your Red Forest for my Zone.
I really hope you're planning some anomaly markers, so I can steal those as well.
Those look like the Patrick Miniatures haz-mat scientists?
I ordered some of the zombie versions - beware the hands, not thier best feature.
I decided to remove the dangling innards (skeletal heads but still have the squishy bits?) and found the 3d resin was very hard, so any alterations need a bit of thought - after I snapped the leg off the first one of course...
-
Are those Gum Tree seed pods? Not a bad idea. Reminder to self: all good ideas are stolen.
With the abundance of pumpkins at this time of year, pumpkin stems once dried make unusual bad forest scatter terrain pieces. Their flat base allows the stems to be erected on a large base. Once enough stems are deployed, a creepier place is hard to find.

Yes, they're the same Hazmat scientists that Patrick Miniatures sell, I have the files to print them so I was able to reverse a few poses during the printing to get more variation.
As to the anomalies - here's a couple of pictures - all are 3d prints from files available on Thingiverse

Not sure of the specific tree they're from, I picked them up when I was in Charlotte NC a few years back, the trees were pretty common in the parking lots.

great anomalies

Ah, well done that man! - not often you get service like that in a thread. :)

You're most welcome! ;)

Finished building a barn - it uses 2mm mdf as a basic building then planking from cereal packs. The roof is corrugated craft paper. Front steps and foundations made from blue foam.
-
Beautiful work :-* :-* :-*
-
Looks great👍
-
That’s a cracking piece
-
Fantastic barn. The texture of the card come across very well as subtle woodgrain and I love the overgrown bushes.
-
Another great piece
-
Love the way the greenery grows onto the roof.
It helps to fool the eye into thinking the roof is
not removable. Well done.
-
Looking good!

Great looking barn. Nicely framed door too.
-
The level of modeling displayed here is tremendous. What a visual treat, all of it!
-
Thanks again for all the kind comments.

The overgrowth looks great might have to try that
whats your perfered material?

It's brown hamster bedding glued in placed and teased out to give the structure.
Then:
- airbrush with 50/50 mix of water and PVA to give it a good coating of glue
- sprinkle on Javis mid green fine turf (JFT2) and light green fine turf (JFT1) to desired mix
- spray with isopropyl alcohol to wet the turf and improve adhesion
- allow to dry
- fix with 50/50 mix of water and PVA
That's it.
-
thsts a really clever idea
