Inspired by some terrain builds I've seen online, I started making some 3D printed hex solar panel terrain.

I was initially thinking these were terrain tiles like Hexon. But now after reading a bit more, are they part of a model, with a base? In that case I’m not quite sure what the 3 or 4 larger hexagons represent?

The hexagons are supposed to be solar arrays fixed to the top of a base. Chief Lackey Rich's photo gives an idea of what it'll look like.

Not that specific model, but there are quite a few others like it online. It's the same type of idea. In this forum, in the thread titled "Scratchbuilding Colony 87", uti long smile has a scratchbuild of a similar idea.

It wouldn't take too much to convert to 15/18mm. A couple of pieces might be too thin and need to be strengthened, if the whole thing is scaled down.

It looks really good. A couple of queries / comments:
Is the base a single part or is it printed as one piece - it strikes me that, while I can see the practical reason for having a chunky base like that, if you look at similar panels today the plinths they stand on are much lighter.
The hexes on the panels themselves - would it be possible to have the small hexes line up with the large panel? Your current arrangement means there are lots of small panels around the edge - I just think that if I was designing these in real life I'd want to be building as few variations of solar cells as possible to make the panel - if they lined up you'd just need full and half hexes...
