We've started taking orders for The Silver Bayonet and the official figure range today.

The Early Bird offer on the launch deal ends next Tuesday.

I've always had a natural aversion to Na.... Nap.... the 'N' word gaming but those (Mike Owen?) sculpts look rather spiffing 8)
-
I am very excited about this. The sculpts look great and I have high expectations of the game. Will be doing the usual mirrored deal through Miniaturicum for those of us on the continent or are we better off ordering direct from you with this special offer? I am keen to get that unique veteran hunter.
-
Speak to Michael at Miniaturicum, he can offer the deal.
-
Cheers mate, that is great!
-
Looks great!
-
Hi Nick. For us Norteamericanos, will Brigade Games be carrying this deal? Because it looks sweet!
-Michael
-
Yes, I think Lon's listed it already
-
:o :D :D got mine yay...gotta love early christmas
-
Lovely! Will the figures be available individually?
-
Yes, he does have it up, thanks. You are faster off the mark with your newsletter!
-Michael
-
Ordered this morning from Miniaturicum, thanks Nick and Michael.
I can not express adequately how excited I am.
-
Preordered mine already but apart from some dealers how did people get theirs hands a copy of the rules in advance.. looking at you Gun Bunny ;D
-
I had hoped we would see some kind of plastic kits released for this title but I know that I was being over optimistic given the niche nature of the genre. And that so many plastic kits already exist with decent kItbashing potential for Napoleonic military characters, ie Victrix and Perry.
Maybe something that would have been good would have been a creature kit for this as well as the *grave series of games, ie werewolves, vampire thralls, etc. I know zombies and ghouls are well covered already but there are a few other creatures that could do with some more availability and kitbashing potential.
Or, what would have been nice was for North Star to put out the Napoleonic female civilians that Wargames Atlantic made an April Fool joke out of. That would have really nice.
-
I just managed to get the order in before the deadline (with a bonus of also ordering some more Oathmark plastic on offer).
I will be interested to see how it goes.
Plastic would be nice, but some suitable conversion bits would be useful.
-
There are plenty of plastic kits, so a sprue with more exotic heads, arms and accessory bits might be the way to go. :)

Yes, conversion bits would be mighty handy. I'm looking at some Tyrolean figures right now and seeing that the female figures especially will be needing haversacks and cartridge pouches at the very least.
All the weaponry options would be great to have on sprue. There are some bits that can be chopped off figures in a Victrix box, but pistols and other hand weapons are in quite short supply. Carbines and a volley gun would be great. A double-barrelled flintlock shotgun would be superb (even if it's not in the rules yet — I've got a pencil).
There are a few dismounted dragoons out there in metal; but otherwise, dismounted cavalry are quite lacking. A Hussar and Lancer sprue with a few head options (including female!) would be pretty universal.
-
Andrew Taylor has painted up the British Unit for us.
-
Looking good! I am so excited about this!
-
The Spanish from Andrew.
Sculpted by Mike Owen.
-
And the French.
-
All 3 sets are superb
-
Loving them!
-
These are great! I can't wait for mine to be delivered! :-*
-
Andrew is still an outstanding painter. Great work. Nick, will you release more figures for this rules or do I have to converse my stuff after getting the book???
-
Wave 2 will be Units of Russians, Prussians and Austrians.
Wave 3 will be monsters.
Wave 4...not sure, depends on popularity and demand.
-
I would love for this game to become wildly popular so that we could get all kinds of cool releases but I suspect this will be a rather narrow niche product. What we need is a new Sharpe movie to come out… one where he has to track down a werewolf. Yeah. That would do the trick. A Sean Bean movie where he gets to live.
-
Does Silver Bayonet include rules for mounted figures? This release has tempted me to try painting some Napoleonic figures for the first time and I now quite fancy having a go at some cavalry while I wait for the book to arrive.
-
It does. You have to have the rider ability, and it's the Cavalrymen Soldier types that have that, not the rest. i think your Officer can be mounted as well.

Excellent, thanks Nick. The door to even more temptation has opened...
-
Just spotted this one
as a fan of Napolionic stuff and of Joseph McCullough work
this is right up my street - still in a Zona Alfa haze at the moment but this might be something I try soon
-
Wonderfully characterful sculpts, and beautifully painted. What a way to stoke enthusiasm! Really looking forward to this one.

-
Got my order in for the bundle earlier this afternoon. With luck it will arrive while I'm having a week off so I get a flying start on it :P
-
wondering how the figures might scale against other manufacturers
-
Kev has painted up the Hobgoblin figures we're selling for The Silver Bayonet.
https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=15816 (https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=15816)
These were originally sold as Fomorians, but they fit the bill for Hobgoblins perfectly.
-
Any word on when Wave 2 will come out? I'm really excited to see the Prussians and the Russians.
-
Any chance of plastic kits coming for this at some point, or an upgrade kit?
-
Nick,
Wave 4 suggestions....
Americans
Freebooter (Pirates)
An all female unit.

Any chance of a child board for The Silver Bayonet?
I would definitely like to see an expansion set in the Americas.
Imagine…
The pirate Jean Lafitte manages to help Napoleon escape his captors, the ship runs aground on an uncharted island…. Several nations and interested private parties dispatch ships to find the missing ship uncovering mysterious events thanks to the nefarious plans of the Harvestmen. Horror and Adventure ensues….
U.S. Marine Corps First Lieutenant Presley Neville O'Bannon runs across trouble in the desert…. An ancient cult…. A cursed? oil lamp…. The restless undead… as he and various other nations seek to resolve the Barbary Coast Question. More Horror and Adventure!
Deep in the forests of the North America West the indigenous tribes speak of terrible horrors, warning new comers that to enter these forbidden places means certain death… or worse. But the new Nation of the United States will not be put off by superstition and myth in its war with both Great Britain and those native tribes that refuse to submit to Manifest Destiny. Spain, eager to recover its declining empire seeks to prevent Lewis and Clark from heading West… but it is not just greed, the Spanish Crown believes only Holy Mother Church can deal with the supernatural horrors of the American wilderness….
A Russian supply ship finds a grisly scene of massacre at a remote outpost on the Pacific Coast of North America. The barbaric acts of native tribes? Jealous British explorers seeking to establish a claim for the British Crown? However, the ship‘s doctor happens to have an interest in paranormal incidents and the occult. He recognizes certain signs that this Horror was not done by human hands….
Hundreds of year old walking dead Aztecs locked in eternal battle with skeletal Conquistadors, an unimaginable sight to the explorers that have stumbled on the ancient ruins that may well become their own graveyard. What lies below….
In a troubled part of the Caribbean, a stretch of water that will be considered cursed by many, lies the ruins of a once great civilization. Shrouded in mist for thousands of years….what treasures and dangers lurk on, or below, the island of Atlantis?
-
I would definitely be interested in a War of 1812 expansion...
-
No chance of a plastic kit from us. But then I said that about Frostgrave Wizards...
But I don't think we will do it. You're better exploring Victrix plastics, through in some Frostgrave bits, you could kit bash some truly unique Units methinks.
Wave 2, no date yet because Mike hasn't finished sculpting the Prussians yet. I'll have pics of the Russians next week.
Any expansions are in the hands of Osprey, not us, so I'm not sure about an American version. Thing is, you'll see when you get a copy, Joe is very expressive about the book just being a start, it's be very easy to design your American Unit and Monsters & take it in a direction you want.
I don't want to do an all female Unit, it doesn't feel right for the game IMHO, but I will do more female Soldier types so you will in effect be able to put together an All Girls Unit in the end.
-
Any chance of a child board for The Silver Bayonet?
Its a possibility, but not a certainty!
Lets see how popular the game becomes and if we need to put everything together in one place then we will. :)
-
Great replies, cheers for that. Knowing is half the battle and all that.
Nick, I hope The Wizard box sets have been financially successful for you because Mrs. GG and I think they are some of the very best sets out there. Useful for a lot more than just Frostgrave Wizards. I recommend them to pen & paper RPG players regularly.
Malamute… I am a very keen enthusiast filled with wishful thinking. Forgive my exuberance. I hope this game really takes off and I am keen to see support structures in place to try to help that. It is in a decidedly smaller niche than Stargrave.

Well, Antediluvian has you covered on the South American undead, anyway:
https://antediluvianminiatures.wordpress.com/2019/03/27/shop-conquistadors-of-mictlan/
The Conquistadores are a bit dated for Napoleonic era gaming, but perhaps they found that damn fountain of youth and have been alive and tussling with the undead all this time (or in stasis and just awoken), hence the retro look?

Seconded. Ridiculously good boxed sets, both of them.
-
The Conquistadores are a bit dated for Napoleonic era gaming,
Umm, undead. They don't have to be recently dead you know.
c.f. Zombi 2 and the conquistadors' graveyard scene.
-
I've been thinking about setting Silver Bayonet in the Americas ... but then, isn't that basically what Dracula's America is albeit the time period is 60 years later?
-
Given the setting’s time difference and the specific political situation in Dracula’s America, as well as different game mechanics…. I think there is enough there to make a very different game. Otherwise WW 1 games and WW 2 Games may as well be considered the same thing.
The Napoleonic Era has its own unique flavor compared to the Victorian Era.
-
It is different to Dracula's America. In SB you have a party of Specialist soldiers, in DA you have a posse of gunfighters with a couple of specials, plus very different game mechanisms.
-

The Antediluviuan conquistadors are very definitely alive and well. Their Aztecs, OTOH, are decidedly post-mortal. Probably someone out there who makes undead conquistadors, though.

There are Antediluviuan Undead Conquistadors in the range, two packs of them. ;)

We've shipped out the Silver Bayonet pre-orders. If you ordered, expect delivery very soon.
Let me know when your arrives and where you are in the world. & if you're in the EU, whether it slipped through without fees.
-
Excitedly waiting for my pre-order to come from Miniaturicum. Thank you Nick for working with them to help make things easier for us on the continent.
For anyone curious about why my enthusiasm is so high Silver Bayonet… it has to do with my own homebrew game idea I had just prior to finding out about the Silver Bayonet a year ago.
Although my idea was built on a foundation of Sharp Practice rather than Rangers of Shadow Deep.
https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2021/02/09/tarnished-splendor/
I really want to see the Silver Bayonet do well, even though I realize it is a small niche product, because of the support it creates in convincing companies to come out with things like more cool new miniatures!

Mine arrived today! (U.K.)

Hurrah

Mine arrived today from Miniaturicum here in Germany… excellent first impression. Very high quality, particularly the sculpts of the minis. I like the artwork in the book, however I will need more time to read and digest the rules before having a fair opinion of them.
It has been over a year of me eagerly awaiting the release of this project. I hope this is just the beginning and that we see the same kind of support Joe’s other games have had.
-
First look at the Russian Silver Bayonet Unit.
-
Oh they are nice!
-
How do the official silver bayonet figures fit size wise with other ranges? As I like the figures but have other rule sets I like to play
-
Looks good.
The gal with the broom seems underequipped for a fight at first, right up until she gives a whistle and her hut stalks out of the woods behind her. :)
"I don't like the look on that thing's...ah, front door?"
-
You got it.
-
More great sculpts. I am very pleased with the minis coming out of this project.
-
Great sculpts!
What unit is the riflemen to the left on the last picture?
-
New Russian.
-
New Russian.
Which Russian unit? Rifle Regiment?
-
Lovely! Will the figures be available individually?
Indeed. I’d be interested to know if they’ll be sold singly as well as I'm sure I could find a use for the civilian types.
-
Those Russians look great
-
The figures might be available singularly in the future, but right now we're concentrating on getting the range out there, and it's in the Unit packs.
The monsters will be as blister packs rather than box sets.
