Title: *NEW* Sprue and bits box Exchange UK 2021
Post by: mcfonz on October 24, 2021, 05:42:02 PM: Hi folks, it's time we started a new thread for the UK bits box exchange. The last one was several years old and becoming difficult to track who was and who wasn't still interested in taking part. So we are starting afresh.

Please PM me if you are interested in taking part in the new UK only Sprue and Bits box exchange. I hope to get this up and running before Christmas. I shall get the list going and put it up after a week. After that, there will be another week before we close the list until the next round of the box. This way we don't have any confusion as to what is happening and people jumping in and then out just because someone has shared they have put something shiny in the box they want. :)

Friendly guidelines:
1) Please subscribe to this thread by clicking on the "Notify" option to top right hand side of the box this thread is contained within to keep up to date with the movements of the boxes.
2) Keep in touch - if anything happens, let us know. If you are not ready for whatever reason we can arrange to move you to another point in the list or for you to skip out a round. There is even a case of someone switching from the mainland list to the UK list after moving!
3) Be kind - remember this only works if people put in as well as take out. Be mindful and be fair. Generally just be awesome to one another, as everyone has done thus far.

Rules:
1)You must let us know via posting on this thread that you have
A) received the box
B) when you have sent the box
I will then update the list so everyone is sure. I would also recommend that you keep an eye on where the box is and as soon as it has been sent on to the person before you, contact them to ensure they know you are still wanting to take part and with your address. If everyone does this it should run smoothly.
2)If you do not respond after a week the person with the box will move onto the next person on the list. I suggest that On around day three or four without response to make contact then so that it is ready to send on day 7 should no contact have been made. People out of contact will be placed on purgatory lists and given another chance at the end of the round.
3) Boxes to be kept at no heavier than 2kg - please be mindful of this when putting things in, taking things out.

My issue is that a lot of what I have are GW related you see. So don't want to over burden people there.

I will be contributing necromunda, warcry, 40k, fantasy, a bit of AoS, adeptus titanicus? And maybe terrain parts.

I do have some oldhammer that someone may find of use.

I'd be happier to recieve similar but I'm open to anything that would be fun to paint.

I was planning to ask, are we sending 2nd class signed at 4.20?
I'd be happy and prefer to do that if everyone else is, it means we don't lose the package along the way.
Also gives us a 2kg limit, which means we can put a fair bit in for the next guy in line.

Yeah, we've advised keeping it to under 2kg for a few rounds now, keeps the price reasonable. I only sent it signed for 2nd as I was a bit slower than planned on getting it out, and if you add signed for to 2nd class it seems to get it treated like first in terms of speed and you can track it. Last thing I wanted is for it to take a week or go missing after a delay my end already. :)

Same here re boxes. I thought I'd found one, but it was too small sadly. It was actually in worse shape if you can believe it... I patched it up! ;D lol

I'd give him until Wednesday, when we know the box is likely to be sent. If nothing by then contact the next in line. I can always add him back in further up the line if needed. :)

Hi Ry. I only have the one account.

I was fourth on the list, received the box from Keeper Nilbog on Saturday and after an unfortunate delay I posted it onto McYellowBelly yesterday, who after a separate delay has got Painterz’ address who is due to receive the box after him. Unless they have already Painterz will be contacting you for your address ready to send to you next.

I was apologising in my previous post for the delay in getting the box posted on to McYellowBelly, as I had initially said I’d get it in the post on Monday but life got in way. Apologies for any confusion caused.

If the parcel is likely to coincide with a time when you will be away from home, consider asking to swap with the next person along or even further down the list. This will ensure that it continues to move swiftly. :D

Nicely done folks! A couple of days over a month and it's already been through and reached 7 people on the list. I'll be honest, I was in two minds about keeping this up as in previous rounds it had been, at times, very slow. Chasing it up in those situations can be a bit of a pain, even though worth it in the long run. This time around, it is ticking along much more smoothly. Thank you for renewing my faith in it! :D

With any luck, there might be some goodies left when it gets back to me! Hahaha! ;D

And, I for one, love the surprise of going through the box, and having a constructive way of thinning the "bits/spares" pile.

See, this is how the system works. I was thinking "what the blazes am I going to do with these 00 scale lampposts," so I chucked 'em in there in the hopes that someone would want them.

I will say that everyone seems to be doing the same as me - adding more than they take - so the box is bulging and has tipped over the 2kg limit. There wasn't much in there I wanted, so at the risk of being a hypocrite I think it would be great if people started to take more to get the weight down.

I can do what I have done in previous rounds and lighten it when it gets back to me, by placing some things in a spare box to form a back-up/emergency box. :)

I'll do the best I can, pretty flat out at the moment with work which can be stressful. Union wise, local authorities (UK) are being asked to cut more money from budgets, nothing new there, been the same over the last 12+ years.

Although, just fyi, at the moment the Royal Mail are doing free doorstep pickup of parcels when you buy postage online. It's to sort of compensate for the horrific service they're offering at the moment.

Thanks for the effort you have put in for it all this time, its been amazing of you to do.

I guess overwise its to a vote choice as such - does anyone else want to step up for next round?

When to start? Its August now, do we take a break and start new year or straight back around, as its taken a few months?

Otherwise, I can return it to Streetline after it gets to me and we negotiate when to start again?

As such I would suggest Streetline at the top of list, me at end of list again (when it restarts its travels) and everyone else in the middle plus anyone new?

As to whether me "go immediately" or wait, I'm not overly concerned. Am aware that Xmas is coming (isn't it always) and this can affect the speed of the box, but as it does seem to move along as it wishes (and life allows), might not be an issue.

Not your fault. You should put in for compensation for the missing parcel though if you've still got the paperwork, we might get £40 or £50 for it that we could always donate to charity.

Just maybe remember to get a tracking number receipt to pin up, so you got proof for yourself that its done, with my memory now its as important to have a physical reminder I have done something as anything else!

At least now with the bins securely behind fence/gate they have stopped signing for things "signed for by" "Bin" was admittedly one of my favourite jokes for a while.
