Title: Brutal Quest
Post by: Iv.An. on November 04, 2021, 10:54:49 PM
Interesting, but not clear.

Is there a limit on health points? Minimum and maximum.

When there's too much freedom, it's hard.

Specified table size 900x900 mm, but how many points to gain gangs for such a table is unclear.

Too much freedom...

The name rings a bell, but I'm not familiar with it.  I'm sure someone here will answer up though.

The problem for me is that I never found a video with the gameplay. And I also did not find blogs with reports on the games played.

Apparently it's a fantasy spinoff of the Planet 28 rules.  Never heard of it before now.  There's a youtube series of vids with the same name but I think it's some twitch streamer's roleplaying campaign.

I suppose I should jump in here seeing as I wrote the damned thing  lol

there is no specific points limit given - the general consensus among players seems to be around 500, although I generally dislike playing with points so I didn't specify an "official" game size.

there is no limit to how many hitpoints you can give a character - you could, if you wish, make a character with 1000 hitpoints, the best armour, the most powerful weapons and only the most beneficial abilities and traits. But you'd probably find it quite a boring experience. I understand what you mean about too much freedom being an obstacle - I find it's always best to build to your characters backstory, then flesh them out with some contrasting support characters.

Thank you for responding.

For me and my associates, these rules will serve as a defibrillator for old dear Mordheim. Since over the years spent in this business a certain image has been formed in the minds, it is easier in terms of energy to bring everything under it. But apparently you should first play a sufficient number of games of 3-5 characters on the side, without rushing. I will probably write a character calculator in Excel.

I'm happy to hear BQ is scratching the mordheim itch for you and your group.
I'm always happy to answer any questions. I will have alook through the files on the brutal quest facebook group - I believe someone has put together an excel calculator already.

Thanks

We have a test game on Tuesday. So far, we decided to collect characters similar to those described in the rules from the GW.

like
Ogre Mercenary
ARMOUR. NONE or LEATHER
WEAPONS. HEAVY CLUB or GREAT AXE (for the ogre, this weapon becomes one-handed)
TRAITS. BIG, FEARSOME, IRON SKIN, MERCENARY, RAGE
ABILITIES. THROW (One free hand is required to use this Feature. An ogre can throw a human, but not an ogre.)

Hi! l have several questions adout the Planet 28 rules.
1. Can I upgrade
"Hit points" and "Speed" of my charecter by points over 20 and 10, or only by traits?
2. Next question is about "Custom weapons". If I upgrade "Flame thrower" that costs 70 points by "explosive" that costs 20 points, it will be 58 points cost. But it is cheeper then there total cost. Where is my mistake?
3.  The last moment is about the rule "Hold". Does it means that a charecter with the hiest agility can choose when to be activated?
Can it be the first one, or it may choose to be activated between the activations of the charectets with lower agilities?
