Title: Power Man
Post by: leegwonfu on November 18, 2021, 03:21:01 AM
Decided that I wanted a Power Man fig, so got ahold of a 'clix (I can't for the life of me remember which one) and cut off his hair, then primed and re-painted the whole thing. Now I have a Power Man!

Classic circa Avengers 164 - 166. Excellent work!

Cripes, didn't you have a spare Superfigs fig from the old days left around for this?  Atlas (the mid-size version) or one of the Paragons would have worked a charm.  Maybe need to add some boot cuffs but no harder than converting a Heroclix fig.  The catalog image of the Paragons is practically in his color scheme already.

This is not how to self-promote effectively.  You didn't even slip in a cheeky mention of your new Super Action roleplaying game rules while you were at it, which would no doubt work well with the Superfigs extensive minis range, eh?  :)

Also, I'm quite certain I remember Luke Cage beating that particular Power Man up over who had the right to use that supranym, kind of like the whole thing with the Tick and Barry.  His "real" name is Erik IIRC.  Maybe he and Barry can go out for drinks sometime and commiserate with each other.  :)

While I have a good amount of Superfigs in my "lead pile" it was much easier to modify this one (it's plastic, not metal). Not sure if I have any Paragons.

I think that you may have me confused with the actual creator of Super Action Roleplay. While I did some illustrations for it, I'm not the author. So, no self-promotion was possible  :?

Oh, Erik just had a bad day - it was the '70's, after all...

In continuity, the Erik Josten Power Man lost the battle for his name to the Luke Cage Power Man prior to the story that occurred in Avengers 164 - 166.

In that classic tale, Josten is sought out by Count Nefaria and has his powers boosted to amazing new levels. He is then betrayed by Nefaria, who siphons his power, Whirlwind's, and Living Laser's powers into himself to become a veritable Superman.

While his powers were reduced after this, the Josten Power Man continued his life of crime as the Smuggler. Of course, he later got boosted again by Karl Malus, beame Goliath, and then later became Atlas of the Thunderbolts.

And thanks, Rich, a post is coming on Super Action Role-Play!
