Title: Brunswickers - blue cuff or not blue cuff? Alas, that is the question.
Post by: olicana on November 20, 2021, 11:23:26 AM
I'm doing a unit of Brunswick Oels infantry for the Peninsular. I have a few sources but they are all pretty vague outside of saying blue facings.

Pictures show them, in short jackets, with and without blue cuffs and I can't decide which is right for the Peninsular. My figures (Front Rank) all have short jackets. Which is right, please?

One last thing if anyone knows. I'm presuming that officers wore crimson sashes, and sergeants blue striped crimson sashes in the Peninsular (sashes in national colours were only for Austrian service and for 1815?), am I right?

Please, can anyone help me out?

Best,

James.

No worries on the cuffs front, finally found the plate I was looking for. Black cuffs.

Yeah, black cuffs though the green-coated riflemen had blue cuffs.  And yes, crimson sashes for the officers.  No idea re sergeant's sashes though, sorry.
