Hey guys, I wanted to announce an amazing project we are working on with Mr. Mersey that will launch next year. This will be a range of true 28mm Arthurian miniatures done in a classical style with historically accurate heraldry and period correct early medieval armor (no plate). Get ready for some serious skirmishes!
-
Any hints as to who the sculptor might be please?
-
Interesting.
Any images to tease us with? ??? ??? ???
-
This will be a range of true 28mm Arthurian miniatures done in a classical style with historically accurate heraldry and period correct dark age armor (no plate).
What does "True 28mm" mean? Is that 28mm to top of head or 28mm to the eyes (i.e. 31mm)
-
Will there be a UK/European agent? Postage and customs are a deal killer. >:(
-
historically accurate heraldry
Heraldry? In sub-Roman Britain?

We will have a UK distributor. Still working through the details.

28mm to the eyes. No scale creep. Should be on par with Footsore's Baron's War range.
Heraldry? In sub-Roman Britain?
True to the oldest manuscripts written about the lore.. following the D’ARMAGNAC ARMORAL.

Might be inline/inspired by the associated works Daniel Mersey has already done for Osprey:
King Arthur: (Myths and Legends)
The Knights of the Round Table: (Myths and Legends)

Absolutely correct.

Absolutely correct.
Right, so mix of fantasy elements and historical?
-
Correct. Inspiration will be taken directly from his books and he is running the art direction.
-
That Picture straight out of the King Arthur Myths & Legends for anyone's interest.
Its an excellent King Arthur resource, as also lists films and games based upon King Arthur.
Got them both already :)
Probably also worth mentioning the Dux Bellorum rules also by Mr Mersey and the first of the Osprey Blue Books wargaming range.
So as you look to be State side based, will there be a UK distributor for the range?

Correct on all accounts! We will have UK and EU distribution... currently working out details.
-
Very interested in this, would make a great match up with Chaosium’s Pendragon :)
-
Sounds interesting!

Cool

That's good to hear :)
-
Here to share the first illustration of the great Sir Lancelot. We will begin sculpting for this project in 2 weeks. Aiming for a March/April launch of the line.
-
Quite looking forard to seeing how this project turns out.....
In the meantime (apologies Dan,. I can't resist!)....
"We're Knights of the Round Table.
We dance whene'er we're able.
We do routines and chorus scenes
With footwork impeccable.
We dine well here in Camelot.
We eat ham and jam and spam a lot.
We're Knights of the Round Table.
Our shows are formidable,
But many times we're given rhymes
That are quite unsingable.
We're opera mad in Camelot.
We sing from the diaphragm a lot.
In war we're tough and able,
Quite indefatigable.
Between our quests we sequin vests and impersonate Clark Gable.
It's a busy life in Camelot.
I have to push the pram a lot." lol
-
really nice project!
-
Very much interested! You have some really cool stuff coming. This one and the new Confrontation line are my favorites.
-
Thanks for all the comments! Dan and I are having a lot of fun with these concepts. Here's the man himself, King Arthur!
-
Probably goes well with Mr. Mercy's Age of Penda rules too.
-
Age of Penda? Are these new?
-
Age of Penda available at WargamesVault.

Nice
-
Ooh the sketches look great! Looking forward to this.
Might revive my project of doing some Arthurian knights.
-
Here's a few more concepts. Sculpting is starting next week!
-
The sculptor said "not yet!".... but I couldn't resist. Here is a sneak peek of the first set. Weapons and shields pending.
-
Looking pretty good. Lancelot, however, reminds me too mich of Monty Python’s Black Knight. I mean the guy has already had his hands chopped off :)
Great stuff!
-
Nice!
-
Lovely :)
-
What a cracking set of figures 8) 8) 8)
-
When I sw Lancelot I thought of Monty Python as well.
But the figures look really nice. If didn't already have so much
invested into the Thunder Mountain Arthurian figures I would be
tempted.
-
Hey everyone! So glad you guys are liking them. We are very happy with the sculpts. Stavros really knocked it out of the park with these. Here they are with Weapons and shields! I'll post up some detailed photos of each sculpt next week.

I wish, I had ordered these before Tom Meier closed his site. Now, however, seeing gibby‘s fantastic models I am happy that someone stepped in and finally made some decent knights of the table round!
@gibby64: those finished sculpts look fantastic!
-
You can still get them at Ralpartha Legacy :)
-
Yes the Thunder Mountain figures are still available there.
I think they are some of the finest figures ever done. A simple
joy to paint.
-
I love those Thunder Mountain sculpts too! Our goal was to meet or exceed the quality of them as well as update the scale to 28mm for modern games. We wanted our scale to match what Footsore are doing with their Baron's War range so you could intermingle them in there. I'm a huge fan of their range and own it all! HAH!
Here's a nice close up of "The King".
-
What good is Arthur, without his love...
-
Well you are doing a great job. The figures look wonderful
-
@ all: Really?! Well, the last three years were mostly spent on raising my daughter, but now that she will become 3 years old, I habe some time to spend.
I‘ll need to have a look. 25mm is just hard, when there is such a great new series in a scale that fits the rest of my collection. Probably all my money will now be spent on gibby‘s most excellent stuff. The King and his Queen are both awesome!
-
This looks fantastic!
-
Here we have some close-ups of Merlin...
-
Really love that merlin figure!!
-
stunning sculpts :-*
-
The Next Set just finished sculpting!
Here we have, left to right: Sir Gareth, Sir Gawain, Sir Galahad, Sir Perceval, and the Lady of the Lake which Stavros went above and beyond by doing in the style of a Bernini sculpture.
-
Simply stunning hope they will be available for a relatively good price in the UK. Any mounted variants planned?

It's looking like we will be having a distributor in the UK carrying them... We are planning on having mounted units sculpted after finishing all of the foot soldiers. Thanks for the kind words!
-
These models are simply beautiful! I hope, you‘ll have an EU distributer, too. Otherwise I‘ll just order them directly (with some Confrontation stuff thrown in).
Magnificent!
-
I long ago eschewed the high medieval Arthurian stuff for a more Dark Ages look, but these are marvellous. I particularly like the stag helm. Might have to get a few!
-
Very kind words guys. I'm so thrilled with the job done by Stavros on these. He has truly put his heart into this range. Galahad with the stag helm particularly looks amazing and I'm equally as excited to get him in my hands... here's one more from Stavros with the weapons attached.
-
They remind me f the classic Howard Pyle images.
-
The lady of the lake is unbelievable! Wonderful miniatures. I hope to get some of these as well, hoping for an EU distributor too! :D
-
I will join the chorus of those hoping for an EU distributor. I have so many uses for these.
-
Lovely Fantasy figures, but do they belong on a Medieval Board ?
-
Hey Everyone! So glad you are loving these figures. I can't wait to have them available. I thought I'd share the latest from the sculptor.
From left to right:
Sir Tristan, Isolde, Sir Kay, Sir Ywaine, Ywaine's Lion
And then a group pic of everything done so far. These are all headed my way to go to casting while he works on the next group being: The Green Knight, Morgan le Fay, Marhault (the Irish Champion), Meleagant, and Turquine (the saxon knight)
-
Another shot of them all so far...
-
Wonderful stuff, the latest group are very nice indeed :)
-
Set 4 is Finished... Here we have a nice set of the Round Table's foes... Meleagant, the Turquine, The Green Knight (2 head options), Morgan le Fay, and Marhoult
The first 3 sets are currently at the caster. The next set will include Gog and Magog, the Dwarf Blacksmith, the "otherworld" knight, and Palug's cat.
Enjoy!
-
This may have already been answered I didn't read every post.
Are these for sale yet?
Where does one go to buy them?
-
These are not for sale yet. The first 3 sets are at the caster though. We are currently deciding what the best option is for launching this range.
-
Any update on availability/Kickstarter for these yet? I think these look great and am really looking forward to hearing more about them. :)
-
Absolutely lovely figures! Beautiful sculpts!
-
Superb, I need these! :-*
-
I've seen the first few models that have been cast and they really are lovely. They're "coming soon" but i don't know an exact date yet.
-
I really do want all of these - my least favourite is maybe the green knight but maybe I could cut some of the extra branches off.
-
I’m part of the crowd that is very excited about that release.
Just saw that my Confrontation Legacy minis are on their way, so I’m in no hurry for the Arthurian stuff,.
-
Really looking forward to these!
Will you be shipping to Australia?
-
Stavros did a really really good work on these :-* :-* :-*
-
Gorgeous
-
Is this going to be a crowdsourced thing or straight up traditional purchase?
-
Hello all! Not to leave anyone in the dark. I hope this graphic shows that we are all but moving forward on this project! I hope to be able to announce a date soon. Stay well!

Lovely! :-* :-*
-
This is such a beautifully realised project. These are going to be all but impossible to resist when they're released.
One comment on the flyer: I would add the character names as I think this would help draw in punters who are less au fait with the Romances and the attributed heraldry. That said, everything else about it is pure eye candy.

Yes, Absolutely we will add labels under each knight! This was meant more as, just as you said, "Eye candy" and a tease. We will have more and more photos coming out soon. These are the first 3 sets of 7 that are coming out. The next sets are currently being molded, then off to paint too!
-
How many total models will be in this line?
They look fantastic and I'm trying to figure out how I can incorporate them into my games.
-
Looking really, really great! But I still have not managed to paint those Confrontation Legend minis… :D :o
-
There should be a new edition of Song of Arthur and Merlin coming out soon too, and these will be perfect for it. I've kept myself busy with All Things Arthurian.

There will be 34 miniatures in all for "Round One" of this range... Round two will consist of mounted versions of the knights and other units.

Excellent news!
The miniatures look marvellous - perhaps a touch of some classic Grenadier sculpts? (A very good thing!)
-
At the ready!
-
Part 2 masters are finished and are at the painters!
-
I've also seen notification that the next Wargames Soldiers and Strategy Magazine, number 121 I think will be an Arthur themed one, with some articles by Mr Mersey :)
-
Coincidence? I think not.... :D

These look great! I am really looking forward to the Kickstarter for these!
Will the first set be a kickstarter on its own and the mounted ones you mentioned be different, or will you run them all on one Kickstarter?

These will be the first sets. After this is delivered we will start on all of the mounted sculpts. I'm very excited to start on those!
-
Those minis are lovely. Love the sculpts and the paint job too! Want to go start making a Camelot castle alright!!!

Looks like you have figured it out. :D For what it's worth I open my photos in Microsoft and resize them to 1000 X 750.
-
OK everyone. This took a bit longer to get all the pieces together then we originally thought, but before we brought a range this important to you fine people we wanted to make sure we had ALL the pieces ready to go. We are launching the Kickstarter on November 29th. Shipping will be US and UK friendly. We are working on getting it to be EU friendly too, but at this time we cannot promise that. Dan and I welcome your support on this initiative and look forward to continuing to grow this range tremendously after this Kickstarter is shipped out!
Please click the link to be notified upon launch. Thanks for all the kind words as we were developing the range.

This looks awesome! On top of all these fine metal minis are cards with illustrations by the esteemed Gary Chalk!?
This is gonna be too hard to pass up. Especially being down the street in Austin. Shipping should be decent. ;)
I guess I'd use these models for Lion/Dragon Rampant, just use a bunch of reduced model units for the two sides.

Indeed, we have a fantastic relationship with Gary and he signed on to design the cards for us. This is just the start of this range, we are already gearing up for the mounted versions of the knights as well as additional named knights of the round, both on foot and mounted. There's a lot planned for this range going forward. Dan and I appreciate everyone's support
