Title: Oathmark undead cavalry?
Post by: swiftnick on November 27, 2021, 02:59:24 PM
A question for Nick really. But wondering if we will see plastic cavalry in the style of the skeletons and revenants?

They may not match style, but the Fire Forge undead cavalry are pretty freakin' excellent.  They're more zombie cavalry though, I guess.

As discussed in this thread (https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=133492.0), I understand the intention is to eventually release a kit for every option in the Oathmark books.

That includes all the cavalry, elite units, strange monsters, chariots and warmachines. I think some of these (monsters most likely) will be metal and/or resin, but anything where you are expected to field a full unit of troops would be a plastic kit - this includes the cavalry.

Now, where in the release schedule the various cavalry units are, who knows?!  ;)

I dont think, that it will be kits for every unit type. There are some, where You would need more, than it would be economical with metal or resin miniatures, but less, than a box of plastic miniatures, and in addition they would be difficult to combine with other types (like ghouls or gargoyles).

It could be very interesting to merge the gargoyles and ghouls kit.

For my old Vampire Counts army that I used, largely, Mantic's minis, for giant bats, I converted some Mantic Ghouls with added wings from the Reaper Dragonmen conversion kit...the end result was dead on for what I wanted with some very minor additions to some of the minis with head crests or poses. I got the WoW Gargoyle basic look, though with a less cartoony style.

Unfortunately, they didn't play that well, so I traded them with a friend for a box of chaos knights that I was going to convert into blood knights...then found a copy of the white dwarf with the vampire coasts list and ended up making more of the gargoyle ghouls as Deck Droppers...and tried some heavier sculpting there to make them fit the pirate theme of the detachment, which didn't work that well in the end.

Having them being similar with added wings and a few pieces could work well for most forms of ghouls.
