At the time of year when people put up trees and buy presents, my collection of useful (and less than useful) bits somehow starts to increase at a greater rate than usual: the smell of BSC is in the air.
I hope we're doing this in 2022, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the theme will be.
I just know I'll do at least as well as last year*.
*unless we introduce negative marking - I got zéro points in 2021 ;D

I feel your pain brother.
I still have a whacking big abandoned Roller Coaster
glaring at me from the shelf. lol lol lol
Would still be up for another try in 2022 though. 8)
-
I would too. Looking to see if Hammers has time to spend on another comp.

Depends on the theme of the Contest

Same, more or less. I am usually inspired but sometimes I just can't think of anything. :?

Jesus, is it already timne for that?!

Sure is :D

I don't think I should be running it this year, but if there are any volunter show runners I'd be willing to take it to the board of moderators and administrators.

Since there were no takers, and probably against my better judgement, if acceptable, I can volunteer.

Happy for you to do that and we (I) are happy to help in an admin/mod position :)
-
Thanks guys.
Now...wotz it gunna be ????? :)

Build Something Competition.
We hold one each year.
The aim is to scratchbuild something in line with the chosen theme.
Which we still need to choose first.
The prize is the (virtual) Potato Cup, a tradition studied by anthropologists...
-
That's that then I guess, I'm 'it'.

Thanks, I'll probably need some assistance. :D
It's the second time I'm running this, so at least I have an idea of how it works.
Thanks guys.

Well - I don't know!
Because I will set up a post later today to start collecting ideas, which we will choose from. I have a few of my own, but am keen to see what suggestions are proposed.
-
Thanks.
That does ring a bell now, or maybe getting confused about some of the occasional inspiring hobby competitions that opo up from time to time.
Well as a though, don't recall these coming up, talking virtual and the new Matrix being out, what about Cyberpunk or Steam Ships (there is a new steampunk ruleset coming from Osprey Blue range in 2022)?
PS I wouldn't be entering but I loves seeing the masters at work :)

Great!

Here goes then - Build Something Competition 2022 is happening :D
Hopefully by Monday I'll start dealing with the theme.
@Admiral Andy - it's a nice idea (and tempting, for me), but we usually choose a more generic theme which can be interpreted to fit as many genres as possible - something (to name past or potential themes) like 'fire', or 'ice', or last year's 'difficult terrain'. And don't worry about the level, the aim is to (i) get people to build stuff; (ii) have a bit of fun and (iii) see what we get up to in the coming weeks. I got zero votes last year, but have at least started off my long-delayed 12" square modular board thanks to BSC, so that's still a win :D

Excellent news, and thank you Vanlak for picking up the baton :)
Now that I’m retired I don’t think I’ll have any problem with joining this year! And I very much look forward to what you come up with.

Thank you - and looking forward to see what you build too.
But first.... the theme!
-
A massive thank you to Vanlak for volunteering to run the BSC this year... I hope to be able to compete again this time....work permitting.
:)
-
For me, I am always up to try, but some days I just cannot get going on a theme...
and then others, I am inspired enough to take second! (Damn you Codsticker!)
-
I'm certainly interested again.
-
I'm stoked to give it yet another go. My new year's resolution is to do better than last time :D
In other words; I'm coming for you, AKULA! ;D
And thank you, Vanvlak; your efforts are already much appreciated!

Bring it on :D
Am really looking forward to the contest, it’s always inspiring to see different interpretations of a common theme 8)

Thanks guys.
And - ooh, we have a duel on too! 8)
I might be posting the competition theme and rules later today.
