Title: "Man to Man" rules from a long time ago - (down the rabbit hole)

Put this in the "needle in the haystack" file.

Came across an old UK wargaming site on the Wayback Machine.  It was a rule set that some of the members wrote and posted on their blog.  It is an Ancients rule set, and is diceless.

In the links on the page, unlike many other Wayback finds, the links actually worked for the rules.  They did not however work for the army lists.

Now I can certainly put together my own lists from DBX and other games but my concerns are that they may have adjusted the mix of figs as there isn't a point cost for the armies, and as the system is diceless, the composition of their forces might be based on their playtesting.

Web search for the game rules, articles, AARs, have been pretty fruitless.  There is a mention on BGG, but haven't been able to check it out yet.  The author and scribe for the webpage indicated he was moving the site to a different location, but it doesn't show up in searches either.  Nor have I found the author.  The email he gave returns as undeliverable.

As a 100% solo gamer, I was intrigued by a diceless game and wanted to test drive it to see if the underlying mechanisms could be adapted into other games as well as trying out the rules themselves as a set of Ancients rules.

Nevermind, I see what you mean now; you want the army lists designed for the game, but it doesn't look like they were actually posted.

The author Robert Bracey seems to have been the club's secretary at the time, and I think (judging by his studies, interests, and the other web sites he set up and linked to), that he might now be working at the British Museum:

If you search around a bit, you should easily be able to find an email address for him at the BM. :)
