I love playing Zona Alfa in it's Eastern European setting, but I also own a lot of English rural terrain. How to play games of ZA using my existing terrain collection? Simples, come up with an English setting for ZA. Welcome to Zona Albion!
Setting:
I didn't want my games to be tied to real map locations, or to an exact historical timeline. I also wanted to add in lots of references to settings from British films and television shows that I grew up with. So you will find references to Hammer Horror productions, John Wyndham novels, a certain classic Doctor Who series and British children's programmes. There will also be plenty of references to British folklore.
The setting is therefore Trumptonshire, somewhere in the south of England, where an 'incident' happened in the late 1980s or early 90s. My games will be set about 20 years later, in the early 21st century.
Figure Choices:
My early 2000s setting allows me to use the excellent modern range from The Assault Group (TAG). This range includes SAS operatives as well as standard British infantry, with lots of postures. TAG also sell separate weapons to aid with conversions.
The choice of TAG figures will also allow me to use Eureka and Hasslefree figures, both of which scale in nicely with TAG

The modern British SAS figures from TAG are mainly in desert type headgear and the regular infantry are available in helmets and berets. Fortunately, these figures lend themselves to head changes. I'll mainly be using Pig Iron heads (in particular the packs of masked heads, mercenary mixed headgear and SAS S10 respirators. For female heads I already had some lovely ones from Statuesque Miniatures. Digging through my bits box I also found useful heads from Crooked Dice and Woodbine (Gripping Beast).
To break up the standard equipment worn by the infantry figures, I added belt pouches and light packs from Anvil Industries, as well as packs from the Warlord Games plastic Commandos set.
My first team, Rogue Operations (Rogue Ops). The leader of the team is a fan of 2000AD comics, so the team have adopted call signs from the Rogue Trooper stories. From left to right, Rogue (leader with SA80 assault rifle and shotgun), Gunnar (marksman with scoped SLR (battle rifle)), Helm (scrounger with SA80, always carries a helmet), Bagman (medic with SA80).

Additional stalkers to allow me to change the team mix and as a start for future teams. From left to right; male and female snipers with sniper rifle, LMG gunner with SAW, female stalker with SA80.

Masked stalkers wearing balaclavas/ski masks and armed with the SA80. These will fill out new stalker teams and also double-up a bandits.

Thanks. Your ZA in Dedburgh setup was one of the things that spurred me into taking ZA to Britain.

lol The KLF,I can imagine you throwing shapes Carlos. One of them is a pretty good painter,and their philosophy is interesting ;)
For myself it would be the Fall,doing The North Will Rise Again.
And back to the thread; great stuff Bullshott,your work is always inspiring 8 As soon as I went through your thread I had a look through my strange though interesting post war collection; seems to be a lot of Centurions… :)
