Hello LAF's. Just finished my Heresy Vampire and had a blast painting him. But do you think that his base is a bit over the top?

Any help of views would be greatly appreciated.

Very nice. I think the base is good - no chance of the wings catching.

Looks the dogs danglies to me mate
-
Looks great, perfect fit for the subject but not overly busy. Well done. :)
-
If he was just man (or vampire) sized without the wings i would think the base was way over the top,
the broad sweep of his wings balances it out perfectly,
i'd keep it as is,

Very nice. I like the leaf scatter stuff. It just seems to me to be most appropriate for horror stuff. I don't know why :)
-
Thanks for all the positive comments. The base is definitely growing on me the more I stare at it across the table.
-
Its not like you but it on a CMON Matterhorn base. Seems just right to me. His wingspan and general awesomeness of the figure makes the base work. Great job!
-
Looks amazing to me.Not too busy either.
-
No, I do not see the base as being too busy. I like the shading and variations in color across the wings. Well done.
-
figure and base excellent ,very inspiring

I wouldn't change a thing. It's a nice bit of basing and I agree it looks great with the wings. plus, bigger base=meaner monster.
-
Looks perfect as-is to me.

I've got mine on a 60mm base, although he hasn't been painted yet (I won't even admit to how long I've had him :?) and it seems to look okay. Echoing other Leadsters, the bloodsucker's impressive wingspan and dynamic pose allows for a nice, big scenery-laden base, which in your instance is absolutely fantastic by the way and makes me green with envy as I know my attempt will fall far short :'(! May I ask in what context you are using him?

Oops; make that a 40mm base, but you get the idea...
-
Absolute cracker there
-
looks good to me
it's a vignette after all, not a gaming miniature, right?
-
Gorgeous...
Almost like a micro-diorama but certainly not over the top.
-
That base is incredible! Don't change it! :-*

Thanks again for the comments. The base stays as it is. He was to be used as a generic vampire....but originally as a COC nasty surprise beastie. Best thing is with a Mueller sculpt he matches my 'orrible ghouls a treat.

The winged one - Base looks absolutely fantastic. Looks like the leaf clutter has just been swept by the unfurling of his wings.
The second beastie - I'd leave it just as it is.
Both these guys look cool and scary as hell!
-
They are rather splendid looking ghouls, just the right amount of gore, and I love the shaved head effects.
-
I'm not usually a fan of oversized bases, but it absolutely works on the vampire!
Nice paintjob too.

Marrony, you got me coming back to look at these guys time and again.
Awesome stuff! :-*
