I'll elaborate on my plans when I'm at an actual keyboard again... :D
+++EDIT+++ Back home. This idea came to me earlier this week, when I read that the subject of rest and repair or recuperation was coined.
I am sorely lacking in the fantasy setting, when it comes to terrain pieces, so that would make for a good starting point. More specifically; even though I really don't care much for the rules set, the setting of Warmachine has always really drawn me in, but because I don't like the game, I never bothered to build terrain for it.
But now that, locally, we're experimenting with our own rules set, which is going to be both setting and model agnostic, there's a good chance Western Immoren will be visited after all in the next few years.
So here's the idea...
Think a fantasy style building, with one side open to the outside, where a smithy/workshop is located. A Warjack in full repair should be there, perhaps partially hoisted up in the air while work is being done to its chassis or boiler. Loads of tools and cogs strewn around.
A door leads inside to the rest of the building, where there will be a study/library room, where the warcaster can sit and study new spells. On the other side of the central hallway, there'll be a boiler room, providing heat and power to the house. Think pipes and hoses everywhere, with some magical elements thrown in for good measure.
The top floor/attic will feature a large bedroom, where the weary warcaster can lie down after a hardfought battle.
The plan is to build the entire thing from foam and wood, with the ground floor possibly built up from individual (foam) stones.
Yes, that's the plan. Now to start drawing and judge the viability of this idea... :D

Sounds good :)
In some ways,a little like mine, though different enough not to run into each other. What will be interesting is I tend to throw stuff about till it fits, I think you’re a bit more technical :)
-
I like the Warmachine setting as well so looking forward to this :)
-
neat!
-
You've done the hard (thinking) part, now that easy
second bit of just building it. lol lol lol
Great Idea by the way. I look forward to seeing it all.
-
Good luck mate - if it looks half as good as the description sounds, then you’ve got a contender on your hands 8)
-
Thanks all. It's all looking to be quite daunting, because this will be quite an involved build. Let's hope I can find the time to fully commit to this...

Cheers; good luck to you too. If all goes as planned, I'll meet you in the middle, as they say :D
Ok, so I did my first sketch. And it's a bit... sketchy. But it gets the idea across I suppose. It's a bit more square than I had initially imagined, so that might still change, elongating the entire building somewhat to get a clear rectangular footprint...

That sketch plan looks great 8)

Looks good but it needs a tower of some sort :D
-
No thanks; I've seen where a simple tower build can lead.
That way, only madness lies... lol

A tower with a tensegrity portion!

A tower with a tensegrity portion!
I've been wanting to build something incorporating that, on the day I would find a suitable subject.
But today is not that day... :D

How is it not a BSC tradition to bite off more than you can chew?
-
However much that might be true, like I posted in the main BSC2022 thread, I've decided to split up...
In other words; real life is projected to loom over everything hobby related, and while I will be able to do stuff and paint, it won't be to the extent that I will be able to do my concept justice. And I want it to be as good as I can make it.
It's not off the table yet, and I hope to be able to tackle it later in the year, but for now, it's one extra ball I won't be able to juggle... :'(
Good luck to every other contestant: I will still be following the BSC with interest! :)
-
That's a shame but do post it when you get back to it :)
-
Sorry to hear that mate.
Will be watching out for this build later in the year :)
-
Yes this is definitely a shame, it was great to follow your progress last year and I was looking forward to the doing the same this time round!
-
Bad show mate. Hope things get a little easier :)
I’ll try and put a butterfly in this year’s entry,establish a tradition :D
-
Ugh, I get real life. Looking forward to seeing something amazing later this year.
-
That's unfortunate. I was looking forward to it - I love the aesthetic and background for Warmachine/Hordes...and f@$&ing HATED the rules. So absolutely built for min-maxers and lawyers.
-
Thats a shame I was really looking forward to see where you where going with this.
Cant wait to see it when life lets get back to hobby stuff.
