Rajajoki Station

Our playtest of a scenario in the Winter of No Surrender series. On the first day of the Winter War the Soviets must prevent the Finns from destroying a railway station. We're using Chain of Command rules, loads of special campaign rules, and 20mm figures.

Great looking games

Really like the tension of the first battle report - even though there was only 1 Finn, there was a question of what might happen. Really great terrain for that first game two with the water tower and red gate!

Can you share some more details of your remote gaming setup? We have been doing a lot of remote gaming, but just with 1 camera and using Google Meet.

So we're using Discord. I have three computers with three HD cameras, each logged onto Discord (I need three email addresses for that). One could also use old smart phones for cameras. We're paying 10 USD per month for 720p picture quality. We've installed a dice bot into Discord which we use for dice rolls. It is nice in that it can sort the rolls, so that when you roll 16 d6 it is pretty easy to see how many hits you scored.

In the Discord call ("Voice channel" in Discord parlance) all three camera pictures show simultaneously and a player can then click on any of them to get a bigger view. Discord also gives a chat function, and a possibility to create chats for just some players (e.g. the Finns) which is nice, and of course the players can message each other.

Thanks - seems like Discord allows a lot more options.

I might try adding a second camera to some of our remote games - I’ve got various iPads around.

For dice rolling we roll the dice locally, and trust each other on the scores - we worked out pretty quickly that if you always roll 10 x 6s to hit, then the opponent will be rolling 10x 6s to save!

The team based chats sound good - could be done by email etc - but this way at least everything is together.
